Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) technician is responsible for conducting air monitoring and emissions measurement activities to support the LDAR program at the organization and ensure environmental compliance is followed.

SAFETY:

• All activities performed in accordance with established company, local, state, federal, and health safety, and environmental regulations and procedures.
• Safety improvements on all pre-existing processes.
• Coaches others (Operators, Technicians) on establishing priorities and timelines to meet regulatory requirements.
  
  

PREVENTION:

• Identifies future competencies and expertise required by the organization. Develops and pursues learning plans accordingly.
• Perform routine tests to verify the effectiveness of leak repairs.
• Minimize emissions and prevent environmental impact through data analysis.
• Assist with implementing and managing LDAR programs.
• Monitor emissions to ensure that the facility complies with environmental regulations related to air quality and emissions.
  
  

INSPECTIONS:

• Perform regular inspections to identify leaks of gases or volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
• Detect fugitive emissions from pipes, valves, pumps, and other components.
• Record data on leak locations, severity, and repair status.
• Essential and accurate documentation retention.
• Coordination of repair and maintenance to promptly repair or replace faulty equipment.
• Regular calibration of monitoring instruments ensures accurate measurements.
• Perform additional monitoring for operational issues involving VOC emissions
• Maintain opacity reader qualifications to support site needs
  
  

F. Required profile:

Level of Education & Knowledge:

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, computer science, or electronics or equivalent experience.
  
  

Experience & Technical Skills:

• TWIC card
• 3 years prior experience working in support of LDAR program
• 3 year minimum working in industrial or plant settings
  
  

Competencies & Behavioral Skills

• Demonstrating high integrity and strong work ethics is crucial for this role.
• Candidates must be comfortable working in a highly regulated, detail-oriented environment where strict adherence to rules and procedures is always required.
• Proficiency in operation of emissions monitoring equipment and software is required.
