13 week long contract
Must be fully vaccinated against COVID
SHIFT (HOURS):
2 Evening Shifts Available: 3p - 11p
2 Overnight Shifts Available: 11p-7a
BOTH Shifts are required to work every other weekend.
Evenings can choose between 7a-7p or 7p-7a.
Nights must work 7p-7a on the weekends. Schedule (Hours Per Week): 40 Duration: 13 Weeks
Duties:
Provides nursing care to patients(pts) utilizing the nursing process. RN is directly responsible to the RN Mgr for quality care given to pt on unit.
- Demonstrates knowledge, effectiveness, & efficiency in providing nursing care. Provides a safe & therapeutic environment that ensures pt’s rights are respected.
- Performs daily documentation accurately reflecting the nursing process. Performs Nursing Assessments &interventions that reflect the PT’s Treatment Plan.
- Utilizes the nursing process in planning, providing, & evaluating patient care & provides a written nursing assessment. Utilizes info from the Assessment to identify pt problems & documents appropriate nursing interventions.
- Safely prepares, administers, documents & monitors results of meds.
- Responds appropriately to crisis situations. Therapeutically intervenes to de-escalate &calm anxious &/or acting out Pt’s
- Applies &/or directs the use of physical restraints. Utilizes time-out & seclusion in an emergency, while following policy & procedures(P&P). Notify physician for orders within 1 hour of seclusion or restraint
- Coordinates completion of Master Treatment Plan(MTP) with team members. Assists in developing measurable goals. Modifies the nursing component of the MTP as required by PT needs or determined by evaluation of care
- Develops a therapeutic relationship with assigned Pts. Sets limits for inappropriate pt behaviors according to program guidelines. Encourages safe independent behavior in pts.
- Establishes positive contact with pt’s physician&social worker to asst in planning pt’s care. Collaborates w/ members of other disciplines.
- Admits, discharges, & transfers pts based on physician orders & per P&P
- Guide other RN & unit staff; communicates changes to appropriate staff, & record changes.
- Reviews medical records, checks & records physician orders.
- Demonstrates effective leadership skills in supervising non-licensed staff in providing pt care.
- Acts as charge RN when designated by the DON
- Demonstrates competence in day to day scheduling of duties by completing tasks on time w/ little assistance from others. Completes reports, tests, & documents w/in the allotted time frame.
- Follows P&P to include contraband&sharps,search policy & understand the significance of enforcing these policies to promote a safe,drug-free environment.
- Properly documents TLOAs & handles meds regarding TLOAs per P&P.
- Adheres to all P&P of the hospital including OSHA 29 C.F.R. Part 1910.1030 Bloodborne Pathogens, up to & including the appropriate use of PPE
- Demonstrates knowledge&understanding of Nat’l PT Safety Goals, & the policies/standards of accreditation entities
- Demonstrates knowledge of the theory&skills to reduce Restraints as well as physical,mental,&emotional risk factors.
- Performs addtl tasks as assigned.
Skills:
2 years of nursing experience and 1 year of psych nursing experience
Education:
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing: A diploma graduate or an Associate degree in nursing required.
- Bachelor's Degree in nursing (preferred).
- Current Registered Nurse in the State of Alabama.
- Experience in a psychiatric setting/facility preferred.
- Required: CPR and CPI certification.
