**Job Description:**

**Overview:**

As a Technical Writer, you will be responsible for creating clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation for the migration of an Oracle database to Amazon Web Services (AWS). Additionally, you will document the evaluation process for alternative database providers and provide user guides and reference materials for the migrated database solution.

**Responsibilities:**

1. **Documentation Planning:** Work with project stakeholders to define documentation requirements and establish documentation plans for the migration project. Identify key deliverables, target audiences, and timelines for documentation deliverables.

2. **Migration Documentation:** Create documentation for the Oracle database migration process, including migration plans, procedures, and best practices. Document step-by-step instructions for tasks such as data extraction, schema conversion, and application reconfiguration.

3. **AWS Documentation:** Document AWS infrastructure components and configurations related to the migration project. Create documentation for AWS services used in the migration, including Amazon RDS, Amazon EC2, and AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM).

4. **Database Provider Evaluation:** Document the evaluation process for alternative database providers to Oracle. Create comparison matrices, feature lists, and evaluation criteria to assist stakeholders in making informed decisions.

5. **User Guides:** Develop user guides and reference materials for stakeholders involved in the migration project. Create user-friendly documentation to help users navigate the database management interfaces, perform common tasks, and troubleshoot issues.

6. **API Documentation:** Document APIs and integration points used in the migrated database solution. Create API reference documentation, including endpoints, parameters, and response formats, to assist developers in integrating with the database system.

7. **Release Notes:** Prepare release notes and change logs for database migrations and software updates. Document new features, enhancements, and bug fixes introduced in each release to keep stakeholders informed of changes to the system.

8. **Quality Assurance:** Review and edit documentation for accuracy, clarity, and completeness. Conduct peer reviews and usability testing to gather feedback and identify areas for improvement in documentation content and structure.

9. **Version Control:** Manage documentation repositories and version control systems to ensure consistency and traceability of documentation changes. Maintain version history and track changes to documentation over time.
**Qualifications:**
- Bachelor's degree in technical writing, English, computer science, or related field.
- 3 years of experience in technical writing, preferably in IT or software development projects.
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner.
- Proficiency in documentation tools such as Microsoft Word, Adobe FrameMaker, or Markdown.
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git or SVN.
- Experience with diagramming tools such as Visio or Lucidchart is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously.
