Summary:
Infintium Fuel Cell Systems, Inc. is developing next generation small and medium fuel cell systems in the Greenville, SC area. We are currently looking for an Environmental, Health, & Safety intern who will work in tandem with Human Resources to ensure all legal and safety guidelines are being followed within our assembly operation. This role is perfect for gaining hands-on experience in a start-up manufacturing environment and potentially could transition into a full-time position.
The company’s facility is located in Greer, SC near the GSP airport.
Responsibilities / Duties:
This role at Infintium is expected to:
- Work directly with the Operations team to help facilitate new employee safety training and keep records of certifications to perform various safety-sensitive duties.
- Help represent the company on safety and environmental inspections (OSHA, EPA, and SC DHEC) and update management on changes to these regulations.
- Demonstrate effective investigative skills to perform root cause analysis and prevention of safety issues by conducting regular site audits.
- Make recommendations for corrective actions and improvements to mitigate environmental and safety risk on certain operations.
- Respond to any employee accidents/injuries by providing basic medical attention if needed and then interviewing witnesses and involved parties to write incident reports.
- Manage, document, and control the company’s hazardous materials programs.
- Plan and conduct the facility’s industrial hygiene exposure assessment and communicate results of industrial hygiene surveys to employees.
- Have a Quality mindset and follow all required Quality processes (document management, etc.)
Required Qualifications / Experience:
The applicant for this position must meet these requisites:
- Working on a Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in a safety related field
- Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, judgment, and customer focus skills
- Ability to analyze accident data, new processes, and machinery for potential safety concerns and conduct job hazard and job safety analyses
- Passion for safety and environmental matters
- Have a Quality mindset and follow all required Quality processes (document management, etc.)
Desired Knowledge / Skills
In addition, the ideal applicant also would meet the following:
- Experience in emergency response and currently holds First Aid and CPR certificates
- Familiarity with manufacturing environments particularly assembly operations
- Knowledge in Workers Compensation, Fire Protection, and RCRA hazardous waste regulations
