Job Title: Cost Accountant
Reports To: Plant Controller
Location: Southern Pines, NC
FLSA Status: Exempt
Position Summary: The Cost Accountant is responsible for supporting the controller during monthly, quarterly and year end close, preparing journal entries and monthly account reconciliations, publish operational & financial performance reports and assist with physical inventory and other inventory control processes. This role will also have opportunities to drive a better understanding of operational results, improve product/operational costs, and participate in division wide initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Update product standard cost (new products and product cost maintenance) for parts produces and sourced in Southern Pines, NC
- Support controller in the annual cost role process
- Ad Hoc analysis (comparative analysis) for product families and across product lines
- Review and analyze cost variances (PPV, Usage Variances, etc.) for monthly reporting and overall improvement of standard costing
- Prepare Journal Entries for month end close
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations
- Publish regular reports for operational & financial performance (metrics/results) in a timely manner with zero defects
- Assist in annual physical inventory processes (documentation for PI exemption, PI counts and audits, or other cycle count tracking activities)
- Monitor processes and controls relating to inventory transactions and reporting failures and areas for improvement
- Provide support for process improvement and product development teams
- Support Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and internal/external auditors
- Provide routine and ad hoc analysis and reports related to inventory, standard costs, and product and process costing
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics and/or equivalent qualifications with 1 Years of Manufacturing Cost Accounting experience.
- Ability to use or learn Oracle R12, MFG Pro, and other ERP systems.
- Experience with Hyperion Consolidation tools a plus.
- Experience with US GAAP and SOX preferred
- Very proficient in Excel, strong working knowledge of other Office programs (PowerPoint, Word, etc)
- Exceptional analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple critical projects in a fast paced environment
- Ability to work well in a cross-functional environment
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
- Must work well with internal and external customers

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, airborne particles and vibration from hammering of parts and using hand tools
- Since it is a manufacturing environment, the noise level is usually loud due to the different machinery being operated (i.e. forklifts, hand tools, machines in other departments) and the testing that occurs. Normal noise exposure in the area ranges from 80-90 dba; hearing protection is required while on the plant floor

Salary : $61,500 - $77,900
