Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and knowledgeable Dental Biller to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in dental billing and a deep understanding of insurance processes, ensuring the efficient and accurate submission of claims. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and navigating complex insurance policies and procedures. As a crucial member of our billing department, you will manage patient accounts, handle billing inquiries, and work closely with insurance companies to maximize reimbursement and minimize claim denials. Your expertise will contribute significantly to the financial health of our practice and the satisfaction of our patients.
Key Responsibilities
Claims Processing:
- Prepare, review, and submit dental insurance claims to insurance companies.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims and resolve discrepancies.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits prior to appointments.
Patient Billing:
- Generate and send patient statements.
- Post payments from patients and insurance companies accurately.
- Handle patient billing inquiries and provide explanations of charges and payment options.
Financial Management:
- Maintain accurate records of patient accounts and transactions.
- Perform regular audits of accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Assist in month-end closing procedures and financial reporting.
Compliance:
- Stay updated with current dental billing codes and insurance regulations.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other relevant regulations.
- Customer Service:
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, addressing their billing questions and concerns.
- Communicate effectively with patients, insurance companies, and other team members.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree or higher preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in dental billing or a related field.
- Proficiency in dental billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Strong understanding of dental insurance plans, billing codes (e.g., CDT codes), and claims processing.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and compliance requirements.
