As our company continues to grow, we are seeking a qualified individual to contribute to our on-going success in the role of HR Business Partner. The role can be stationed at our office in Truro, NS Halifax, NS or Ottawa, ON.
About the Position:
The HR Business Partner will be given the opportunity to partner with internal stakeholders, upskilling and coaching employees and managers alike on HR policies, procedures and guidelines. As a trusted professional they’ll execute both business and people strategies, retain talent, manage sensitive employee relations cases. The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Promoting and adhering to our safety and respectful workplace culture while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance with all federal and state rules and regulations;
- Manager overall Human Resources employee relations and retention programs and assures compliance with employee-focused regulations;
- Partner with Talent Acquisition and Employee Experience team members in the effective delivery of all human resources programs;
- Effectively respond to inquiries by providing guidance and coaching to supervisory and management staff regarding interpretation of HR policies, procedures, programs and keep abreast of new employment laws and other related information reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Assist in policy development when needed;
- Conduct weekly/monthly meetings with internal stakeholders as required or needed;
- Provide day-to-day performance management guidance for assigned business areas, including but not limited to coaching, counselling, career development and disciplinary actions;
- Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships building morale and increasing productivity and talent retention;
- Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations and make recommendations on remedies where appropriate;
- Advise management with appropriate resolution of employee relations issues;
- Participate with interviewing candidates as needed;
- Perform other projects, duties, and assignments as needed.
Please Note: This role requires the ability to travel to facilities throughout Canada, the United States and the UK, possibly on short notice, to meet immediate business needs.
Qualifications:
- Bilingual communication skills in French and English required;
- Motivated, self-starter with 3 years of progressive work experience in a Generalist/Human Resources Manager or HR Business Partner role;
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources or relevant post-secondary education and a combination of continuing education and experience;
- Intermediate computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel);
- Excellent communicator, using both verbal and written communication skills with ability to listen to others and value opinions, interpret information, promote and execute ideas in a remote work environment;
- Positive and proactive contributor who is capable of interacting with varying personalities and all levels of internal and external stakeholders;
- Ability to maintain accuracy and meet deadlines;
- Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to prioritize multiple competing tasks in a fast-paced environment;
- Must maintain high level of interpersonal skills with demonstrated discretion, tact and diplomacy to handle sensitive and confidential situations;
- Key skills and abilities include coaching, influencing, facilitation, analysis and problem solving.
- Proactive and takes ownership for producing positive results;
- Keeps commitments; exhibits candor and courage - is not afraid to establish a visible presence and point of view and to hold others accountable;
- Must be authorized to work in Canada.
