The Environmental, Health, Safety (EHS) and Sustainability Manager is responsible for the organizational facilitation of Inland’s environmental, safety, and sustainability programs. This person will lead initiatives to ensure compliance of all local, state and federal requirements, including but not limited to DNR, EPA, OSHA and PA DEP. This role is also responsible for the coordination and implementation of programs that drive a safe work environment as well as supporting initiatives that allow Inland to meet quality and productivity initiatives. This position fosters and builds relationships with internal and external customers and is influential in driving change, and changing the behavior of employees for the better. The EHS and Sustainability Manager tracks and reports environmental data, such as air emissions, waste generation, and energy consumption. This role helps define the strategic roadmap to a safer, healthier and more environmentally friendly organization.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Multi-site responsibility for the development, recommendation and implementation of strategies, initiatives, policies and programs that promote a culture of safety to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations and requirements, including but not limited to, DNR, EPA, OSHA and PA DEP with a key focus on risk management.
- Responsible for recordkeeping of all EHS compliance documents and environmental reporting.
- Leads EHS compliance programs for internal and external reporting activities.
- Interprets EHS regulations and provides support to other departments to ensure compliance.
- Evaluates and provides recommendations for new equipment, processes and facility changes to minimize regulatory risks, improve safety and employee health, and to be a more environmentally conscious organization.
- Promotes budgetary and capital development to support safer working environments and reduction of injury across the organization.
- Leads due diligence and integration efforts for all EHS activities at new facilities
- Conducts periodic audits to verify compliance and recommends and/or implements improvements to ensure compliance.
- Facilitates EHS audits initiated by external regulatory agencies.
- Collaborates with Inland leadership to manage injured employees, including, data collection, First Report of Injury, accident investigation and claim resolution.
- Manages worker compensation claims and facilitates communication between injured employee, employee’s manager, Human Resources, insurance provider, and treating medical provider.
- Promotes safety culture and serves as the subject matter expert of all EHS regulatory programs at multi-facility operations.
- Manages on-site industrial hygiene testing and surveys of operations and facilities.
- Reviews all Safety Data Sheets and approves or recommends chemicals.
- Develops and directs accident reporting, investigation, data analysis and recurrence prevention programs and procedures.
- Creates and provides safety training to staff and managers
- Manages PIV safety and license program
- Manages DOT and Fleet Safety program
- Serves as Emergency Coordinator in response and assistance to emergency situations.
- Uses EHS expertise to develop and facilitates training for management and employees to ensure compliance with all EHS programs.
- Assists in developing and maintaining EHS related visual process maps and written standard operating procedures.
- Tracks and reports on air (VOC and CO2) emissions, waste, water and energy consumption. Collaborates with the VP of Operations and HR, and the full Executive team to set targets and goals to reduce emissions and future energy consumption.

Essential skills and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Occupational Health, or Human Resources
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive health and safety experience
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations
- Knowledge of DNR, EPA, and PA DEP regulations
- Understanding of air emissions, energy consumption and policy
- Must be analytical, innovative, decisive
- Strong verbal and written communication
- OSHA 30 Hour Training Course Certified
Nonessential skills and experience:
- Advanced degree in Industrial Hygiene, Safety, Environmental or Occupational Health, or Business
- Certified Industrial Hygienist
- Certified Safety Professional
- Lean management skills
Work Environment:
- Operates in a demanding, fast-paced, people-oriented manufacturing environment with frequent changes and interruptions, and multiple project assignments
- Works with a variety of people including vendors, customers, regulatory agencies, employees, team members, and managers
Required Work Schedule:
- Typically works standard business hours
- Must be flexible for occasional meetings and responsibilities outside of standard business hours including weekends
- Travel and overnight trips may happen occasionally with the potential for short periods of frequent travel to meet business needs
