Job Description – Certified Peer Support Specialist
Position Summary:
Insight and Empowerment, LLC is looking for a Certified Peer Support Specialist who is excited and motivated to assist others in their journey toward recovery. If you are an individual who is well-grounded in your own recovery of mental health concerns, trauma, or other lived experience you can help others through sharing your story. Peer specialists are essential team members who provide valuable insight as part of the collection of services offered at our agency. The ideal applicant will be Peer Support and Family and/or Youth Support certified. The requirements for the position are below:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Provide peer coaching and mentoring in individual and/or group settings on a weekly basis
· Interested in and capable of providing services via telehealth and/or in person.
· Able to maintain ethical, professional boundaries and conduct in the delivery of services.
· Provide recovery, education and support to individuals with serious and persistent mental illness and/or substance addictions.
· Write daily progress notes for each peer support contact and mental health service.
· Instruct clients in problem-solving, daily living, self-management, and connecting with community supports.
· Monitor goals, achievements and agreements of clients and formally review their recovery plan every 90 days.
· Participate in Interdisciplinary Team Meetings and Supervisory Meetings as required.
· Able to maintain own client schedule and coordinate scheduling with client, hours will vary depending on client load and availability.
· Skilled in maintaining accurate and timely records and capable of completing all documentation in a timely manner.
· Prepare and maintain charts in accordance with audit requirements.
· Willing to allow time to build a caseload (time periods may vary based on desired client load/availability).
· Willing to undergo a background check, drug testing and provide professional references for contact.
· Maintain updated CEU’s and annual ethical trainings and keep up to date with current information and developments.

Education/Experience:
· Minimum of High School Diploma or GED
· Strong Interpersonal and Organizational skills
License, Certifications or Registration:
· Certified as a Peer Support Specialist (as determined by BPA Health)
· Has been in recovery for a minimum of one year
· Pass a criminal background check with Idaho Department of Health and Welfare
· Pass a pre-employment drug test
· No more than 2 driving violations within the past 3 years
· No DUI or reckless driving within the last 5 years
· Must possess a valid Driver’s license and liability insurance
· Associate Degree in a Human Services related field preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities:
· Ability to read, speak, understand, analyze and interpret documents such as client safety/treatment plans, assessment materials and procedure manuals in the English language.
· Ability to write professional notes/emails reports and correspondence.
· Must be able to function independently and be able to seek guidance when necessary to assist in working with children and families.
· Knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and web browsers effectively.
· Knowledge of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV).
· Knowledge of a variety of therapeutic interventions and models emphasizing empirically validated interventions.
· Knowledge of child/adolescent development.
· Knowledge of child abuse and substance abuse issues.
· Knowledge of legal/ethical issues and concerns.
· Knowledge of mandated reporting responsibilities and limits of confidentiality.
· Knowledge of family dynamics.
· Knowledge of anger management and coping skills.
· Basic knowledge of psychotropic medications.
· Excellent writing, communication, organizational and time management skills.
· Ability to manage multiple tasks at one time in an efficient manger.
· Excellent problem-solving skills.
· Ability to relate to children and families in a positive manner.
· Ability to establish and maintain appropriate boundaries with children and families.
· Understand and respond to diverse population.
Physical Demands:
While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands or talk or hear. Fine motor skills such as typing, the use of a computer mouse and telephone handset is required. Employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to sit, stoop, kneel and crouch. The employee must occasionally life and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
