What Is the Role
The Director of Human Resources is directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of the human resource function. This individual is also responsible for the selection, leadership, and performance management of an HR team that understands what people need and knows how to provide it

What You’ll Do
- Provides leadership to establish and maintain a positive work culture where every employee feels heard, valued and supported, and that recognizes and appreciates the power that diversity of our workforce brings to the organization.
- Ensures the Human Resources department maintains a strong customer service focus that demonstrates empathy for the concerns and needs of the employee and that strives to always resolve employee concerns and needs in a collaborative and supportive way.
- Develops and/or maintains the organization’s performance evaluation program.
- Annually reviews and makes recommendations to executive management for improvement of the organization's policies, procedures, and practices on personnel matters.
- Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures the organization's compliance.
- Maintains responsibility for organization compliance with federal, state, and local legislation pertaining to all personnel matters.
- Assures successful orientation and onboarding programs.
- Communicates changes in the organization's personnel policies and procedures and ensures that proper compliance is followed.
- Assists executive management in the annual review, preparation, and administration of the organization's wage and salary program.
- Oversees, coordinates, or conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
- Consults with legal counsel as appropriate, or as directed by the CEO, on personnel matters.
- Works directly and collaboratively with directors, managers and supervisors to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters.
- Recommends, evaluates and participates in staff development for the organization.
- Develops and/or maintains a human resource information system that meets the organization's personnel information needs.
- Supervises the human resource department staff.
- Participates on committees and special projects and seeks additional responsibilities.
- Oversee high volume recruitment function, which includes determining and supporting hiring needs, candidate screening, and extending offers of employment.
- Works collaboratively with the Compliance and Training Department to ensure the organization’s Human Resources Department practices comply with state licensing regulations and confirm to accrediting body standards.
Education and Experience Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, business, or a related field with at least 5 years of progressive experience.
- Multistate experience is highly desired
- Additional HR training, experience, or certification is a plus, SPHR, PHR, SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP preferred
- Excellent communication skills, empathy, interpersonal skills, ethics, and cultural awareness
- Resourceful, problem-solving aptitude and thorough knowledge of HR procedures and policies
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office, HRIS systems, and comfortable learning new technical systems as needed
