What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead DSP position at Inspire CP?
Inspire was established to provide services to children with cerebral palsy living in Orange County. As the needs of our community have grown and changed, Inspire has expanded programs to benefit children and adults with a wide variety of disabilities and challenges. We specialize in early childhood development, as well as family support services for youth and adults.
We have an opening for a full time Lead Direct Support Professional (DSP) to assist in supervising and support for direct support professionals who are working in the day habilitation without walls program and are out in the community.
Responsibilities:
- Takes the lead role while in the community providing Day Habilitation for individuals, which may include assisting in coordination of community activities and volunteer opportunities in conjunction with Habilitation Supervisor.
- Keeps current with each individual’s Day Habilitation Plan and documentation forms to assure program activity relates to the consumer’s plan
- Cooperates with the Habilitation Supervisor to assure Habilitation Plans are updated for ISP reviews and meetings
- Provides additional supports for other DSPs in implementation of habilitation plans
- Assists in ensuring staff is utilizing all required documentation.
- Maintains compliance with institutional regulations, state and federal regulations.
Requirements:
- Associates Degree in Human Services Area and 1year experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities; OR
- Some college credit and 2 years’ experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities; OR
- High School Diploma or GED and 3 years’ experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Valid NYS driver license D or CDL-C or S (no permits or “junior” licenses)
