Summary/Objective
Resident Engagement Coordinators assist in planning, implementing, and monitoring wellness and recreation programs to meet the specific needs of residents. S(he) helps to ensure we are providing personalized and engaging resident programming and social interaction within the Community.
Essential Functions
- Assists in planning and implementing creative and exciting programming to meet the individual needs and interests of the residents within the Community with large and small group programs; provides one-to-one programming for residents who cannot participate in group settings
- Facilitates scheduled activities such as exercises, games, musical/cultural programs, and lectures
- Ensures the Standards of Excellence for Resident Programs are being met
- Assists and participates in outside trips and events for the residents while ensuring their safety and well being
- Assists in coordinating the transportation of residents to and from events outside of the Community, which may include driving a company vehicle
- Promotes independence of resident(s) decisions
- Maintains confidentiality and privacy of resident care, procedures and documentation, communicating with the resident on an adult and mature basis with dignity and respect for the resident’s rights and wishes
- Participates in the review of individual resident service plans and regularly documents resident program progress
- Communicates positively with residents, families and Community professionals regarding the memory care program and its benefits
- Ensures the Community environment, including equipment and supplies, supports a safe and engaging environment
- Actively supports and contributes to the Community through the execution of responsibilities and assignments, which at times, may overlap with other positions and departments
- Performs other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
Work Environment
Works in a well-lighted area that is ventilated and as physically, physiologically and psychologically innocuous as possible under the conditions which exist at any particular time. On occasion, there may be exposure to outdoor spaces, which will, by their nature, have variances in air quality, temperature, walking surfaces, lighting, and other physical aspects. Because the essential functions may require exposure to bodily functions and infectious waste, diseases, odors and other situations Associated with health care, including but not limited to exposure to AIDS, HIV and Hepatitis B viruses involving Risk Classification Categories 2 and 3**, environmental and safety conditions will fluctuate. S(he) will need to possess the ability to work in an environment conducive to caring for residents without posing a substantial safety or health threat to one’s self or others.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the Associate is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active, requiring standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing throughout shifts. The Associate must frequently lift or move objects and patients weighing up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Certifications, Licenses, Education and Experience and other Special Requirements
The Resident Engagement Coordinator will have a High School Diploma or equivalent and it is preferred s(he) has an Associate’s degree or equivalent in recreation, health education or a related field. It is preferred that the Resident Engagement Coordinator has a minimum of six months’ experience working in a memory care facility, nursing home, hospital, home health agency or other health care facility. The Resident Engagement Coordinator should also possess exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal as well as strong planning and organizational skills. Due to potential use of a company vehicle, s(he) must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, free from significant violations/points.
