Position Description:
Seeking an intern who could assist with market and competitive intelligence. This candidate will be responsible for:
- Tracking key media market trends and dynamics
- Monitor key players and competitive offerings.
- Share insights with internal stakeholders and provide high level recommendations
Job Responsibilities:
Specific projects
- Support teams in collecting information for the media market watch reports.
- Competitive Intelligence: Monitor and track competitor activities, including product launches, pricing strategies, marketing campaigns and market positioning.
- Update databases: Competitive pricing, Innovation tracker, factoid library
- Weekly media newsletter with max. 10 articles
- Draft specific market overviews using supporting tools such as Ampere/S&P Global
- Support on audience measurement projects (Geopoll and other)
- Memberships: create awareness of events coming up and doing post-events summaries
- Work with Product Marketing Manager to create marketing collateral that leverages research insights and intelligence
Training
- Approach to market intelligence projects
- Working with various analytical tools and techniques to collect data and extract key insights.
- Practical application of strategic thinking (collect data, interpret data, envision the implications and translate insights into actionable recommendations).
- Building an intelligence report
- Presenting an intelligence report
- Working with corporate communication tools such as Feedly & Microsoft Forms.
- Ethical practices

Preferred Qualifications

12 Week Schedule:
- Week 1-3:
- Introduction to Intelsat's mission, values and market intelligence department
- Familiarization with company policies, tools and data sources
- Shadow Market & Competitive Intelligence Manager
- Broader team introductions
- Introduction to Intelsat Media Products
- Training on market research methodologies, including survey design, interview techniques and data collection.
- Introduction to data analysis tools used for data interpretation.
- Introduction to corporate memberships
- Week 4-6:
- Research the satellite industry, including technologies, market trends and customer segments.
- Learning data analysis techniques and software tools used for data interpretation.
- Introduction to competitive intelligence concepts and tools
- Assist in compiling market research and surveys
- Assist in monitoring and analyzing competitor activities
- Reporting on corporate membership events
- Week 7-10:
- Working on data analysis projects using real market intelligence data
- Compile market research and surveys
- Collaborating with broader intelligence teams on strategic projects
- Presenting summary of findings on industry trends and opportunities
- Conduct competitive benchmarking and swot analysis
- Creating visualizations and reports to present findings
- Reporting on corporate membership events
- Week 10-12:
- Preparing a final presentation summarizing key learnings, projects, and recommendations

Minimum Requirements:
- Eligible candidates must be one of the following:
- Part-time or full-time students who have completed 24 credit hours (rising sophomores/juniors/seniors) and are enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited college or university; Part-time or full-time students enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited college or university
- May 2024 graduate
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism, and maturity in the workplace
- Effective communicator in both written and spoken English
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency in use of MSOffice Suite (especially Excel and PowerPoint)
- 3.0 GPA or above preferred
Summer Intern Program Description:
- Paid internship; 12 weeks starting on Monday, May 27, 2024 through August 16, 2024
- Schedule - 40 hours/week, Monday- Friday, 9 - 5 or regular core hours
- Hybrid environment (minimum 3 days in office location)
