Description of Responsibilities:
- Participate in design coordination with engineers, project management, sales and customers.
- Learn and perform design work utilizing CAD systems – AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Navisworks, BIM360, and others as necessary.
- Participate in the generation CAD drawings for proposals and scopes.
- Provide input to and help develop P&IDs, AF&IDs, Mass Flow Diagrams, Equipment Schedules, plans, sections, and details.
- Creating drawings for Refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical piping, process piping and simple architectural.
- Regularly communicate with engineers, project managers and field fabrication/installation personnel to obtain and convey the information needed to complete the technical layout required for a project.
- Occasionally travel to project job sites to prepare and validate drawings for pre-construction activities, construction activities and post construction activities.
- General knowledge and experience of HVAC and Refrigeration systems is a plus but not required.
- General knowledge with mechanical piping construction methods and systems designs is a plus but not required.
- Ability to understand installation of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ability to read all discipline drawings and specifications.
- Ability to coordinate design work with other disciplines in a CAD environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Other duties as assigned by engineering manager.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Excellent interpersonal communication/relationship skills.
- Excellent working knowledge of MS Office products (Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, and Internet Explorer).
- Ability to learn and create piping prefabrication drawings, spool maps, 3D drawings for shop fabricated skid package equipment, etc.
- Willing to participate in training courses as provided by the company.
Basic Qualifications:
- Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college or vocational/technical school in CAD design or similar.
- Experience utilizing AutoCAD software or similar with demonstrated proficiency.
- Familiarity and intern experience working in the Engineering, Consulting or Contracting business is a plus but not required.
- General knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration and mechanical systems is a plus but not required.
Work Environment:
- Office environment, construction job sites, client’s industrial food, beverage, and pharma facilities.
- This job is normally performed in our office located in Indianapolis Indiana.
- Occasional remote home office work with appropriate high speed internet connection.
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, video displays, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
- Company provided computer equipment.
- Some short duration travel may be necessary to visit job sites throughout the United States, as requested.
- Be able to go to job sites and meet customers, collect data, throughout the US, etc.
Physical Demands:
- General good health.
- This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required.
- This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand, as necessary.
- This position requires extensive use of computer monitors and other electronic devices, which can cause eye strain and fatigue if appropriate precautions and breaks are not observed.
- This position also requires extensive typing, which can lead to ailments such as tendonitis and carpal tunnel syndrome if precautions are not observed.
- This position occasionally requires climbing ladders and stair towers at jobsites.
- This position occasionally requires work in cold and hot environments indoors and outdoors at jobsites.
Pay Structure and Expectations:
- This is a non-exempt position, meaning that it is eligible for overtime pay (at time-and-a-half rate) for billable hours worked over 40 in a week.
- This position will ideally receive between $21.63 and $26.44 per hour.
- Pay will be received weekly for all work performed in the week prior.
