Job Summary: The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the nursing department within a healthcare facility. The DON plays a key role in ensuring the provision of safe and effective patient care, staff development, compliance with regulatory standards, and collaboration with other healthcare professionals and departments.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Responsibilities:
Provide clinical guidance and oversight to nursing staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care
Develop and implement clinical policies and procedures in accordance with industry standards and best practices
Monitor patient outcomes and work to continuously improve the quality of care
Staff Management:
Recruit, hire, and train nursing staff, including nurses, nurse managers, and support personnel
Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and address disciplinary issues as needed
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment
Budget Management:
Develop and manage the nursing department budget, including staffing, supplies, and equipment.
Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining high-quality care
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to healthcare and nursing
Prepare for and participate in inspections and surveys by regulatory agencies
Quality Improvement:
Implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction
Monitor and analyze clinical data to identify areas for improvement
Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
Collaborate with other healthcare departments, including physicians, therapists, and administration, to promote interdisciplinary teamwork and communication
Participate in healthcare leadership meetings and committees
Education and Training:
Develop and implement staff training programs to ensure ongoing professional development and compliance with education requirements.
Stay current with advancements in nursing practice and technology
Patient Advocacy:
Advocate for the rights and needs of patients, ensuring their well-being and safety
Address patient and family concerns and grievances
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing (BSN or MSN) is typically required
Active registered nurse (RN) license
Several years of nursing experience, including supervisory or managerial roles
Strong leadership and management skills
Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Commitment to patient-centered care and quality improvement
Experience : Minimum 2 years of experience in Nursing home in clinical and regulatory side
