Seeking a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) for a permanent opportunity at a local metro surgery center.
**Job Description:**
- We are looking for a skilled CRNA to manage anesthesia-related activities, including patient airway management, anesthesia care plans, and post-anesthesia responses.
- The ideal candidate will have 5 years of independent CRNA experience, previous leadership or management experience, and current certification through the National Board on Certification and Re-Certification of Nurse Anesthetists.
- The CRNA will work collaboratively with the Clinic Medical Director and RN Practice Administrator to establish anesthesia services and develop care plans.
- The CRNA will be responsible for managing patients' airway or pulmonary status, selecting and preparing equipment and supplies, and administering anesthetics and adjuvant drugs.
- The CRNA will also be responsible for performing pre-anesthetic screenings, monitoring patients' responses, and responding to emergency situations.
**Responsibilities:**
- Manage patients' airway or pulmonary status using techniques such as endotracheal intubation and extubating, mechanical ventilation, pharmacological support, and respiratory therapy.
- Establish the type and scope of anesthesia services required to meet the needs of patients and the surgery center in an independent care team model.
- Select, prepare, or use equipment, monitors, supplies, or drugs for the administration of anesthetics.
- Select, order, and administer anesthetics, adjuvant drugs, accessory drugs, fluids, or blood products.
- Perform pre-anesthetic screenings, including physical evaluations and patient interviews, and document results.
- Monitor patients' responses, including skin color, pupil dilation, pulse, heart rate, blood pressure, respiration, ventilation, or urine output using invasive and noninvasive techniques.
- Respond to emergency situations by providing airway management, administering emergency fluids or drugs, or using basic or advanced cardiac life support techniques.
- Develop anesthesia care plans.
- Obtain informed consent from patients for anesthesia procedures.
- Assess patients' medical histories to predict anesthesia response.
- Perform or manage regional anesthetic techniques, such as local, spinal, epidural, caudal, nerve blocks, and intravenous blocks.
- Evaluate patients' post-surgical or post-anesthesia responses, taking appropriate corrective actions or requesting consultation if complications occur.
- Administer post-anesthesia medications or fluids to support patients' cardiovascular systems.
- Discharge patients from post-anesthesia care.
**Requirements:**
- Successful completion of a program approved by the AANA Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Education programs.
- 5 years of previous independent CRNA experience required.
- Previous leadership or management experience required.
- Licensing and Certification:
- Current Minnesota Registered Nurse License.
- Current certification through the National Board on Certification and Re-Certification of Nurse Anesthetists with compliance with all continuing education requirements.
- Additional certification to include BLS and ACLS.
