What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scientist, Lead Discovery position at Interline Therapeutics?
THE COMPANY
Interline Therapeutics is systematically elucidating protein communities to define molecular mechanisms of disease. Interline Therapeutics is systematically defining molecular mechanisms of disease by correlating human genetics with protein community dynamics. Enabled by this understanding, we are developing novel drug candidates that target key drivers of inflammation and cancer.
Interline is creating a culture centered around our dual commitments to patients and employees. We believe that if we prioritize science and innovation, empower one another, and have fun, we will significantly improve the lives of patients. The company seeks to grow a diverse and inclusive team with individuals that are action-oriented and united by common values.
THE ROLE
We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative scientist to be a part of our growing Lead Discovery team. In this role, you will play a key part in the discovery and advancement of small molecule drug candidates, using biochemical and biophysical approaches to identify and characterize small molecules that modulate diverse protein-protein interactions. You will use mechanistic and structural insights of protein targets to conceive of and implement discovery approaches and work collaboratively with scientists from cross-functional disciplines to drive the advancement of drug discovery programs through structure-guided efforts. You will be responsible for presenting findings to project teams and senior management. This role provides a unique opportunity to join a company at an early stage and have an outsized impact on the direction and growth of our discovery platform and therapeutic programs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Development and execution of biochemical and biophysical assays for characterizing protein-protein, protein-ligand interactions, or enzymatic activity (TR-FRET, FP, SPR, DSF, MST, etc.)
- Conceptualization and implementation of small molecule discovery campaigns using cutting edge screening technologies
- Biophysical characterization of small molecule-protein complexes to understand compound mechanism-of-action and potency, and provide a path for structure-based drug design campaigns
- Protein generation and characterization (including construct design, expression, purification using AKTA systems)
- Cross-functional project team collaboration, including providing structure-activity relationship for small molecules in on-going compound optimization campaigns
- Presentation of research findings to senior management and internal and external collaborators
QUALIFICATIONS
- D. in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Structural Biology, or related field with 0-3 years of post-degree experience
- Experience developing, optimizing, and executing biochemical and biophysical binding and activity assays
- Familiarity with common biochemical and molecular biology techniques including protein expression and purification is desirable
- Prior experience in small molecule structure-based drug discovery and/or the characterization of protein-protein or protein-ligand interactions is desirable
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong desire to work collaboratively within a team environment
All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, sex, color, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, or on the basis of disability
