What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health Information Tech position at InterMed, P.A.?
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Sort, classify, and verify all documents are processed per established guidelines
- Administer records management processes per file structure, naming conventions according to established guidelines
- Perform quality assurance checks on documents imaged into the EHR
- Transfer healthcare information in paper format to electronic format
- Process documents received by electronic fax in accordance with procedure guidelines
- Scan new patient records in accordance to the guidelines
- Preload new and returning patient’s records; analyze and extract specific information from the records to be put into structured fields within the electronic health record
- Work in conjunction with the Provider’s clinical team to ensure the patient’s electronic health record is in a current status
- Call patients to obtain healthcare information
- Provide training in the records management process
- Maintain and update the records management workflow guide
- Other responsibilities as directed by manager or coordinator
- Health Information experience; Associates Degree in Health Information Management preferred
- RHIT Credential-Preferred
- Experience with EMR/eClinical Works
- Understanding of HIPAA/Patient confidentiality
- Medical terminology- Preferred
- Ability to type with great accuracy
