- Determines identity by two (2) identifiers such as patient name and date of birth. Informs patient and/or family members the patient’s destination, mode of travel, time, and other data, following written or oral instructions.
- Directs or escorts incoming patients from the admitting office or reception desk to the designated area.
- Assists patient in walking to prevent accidents from falling or transports non-ambulatory patient with wheelchair.
- Transports patient, alone or with assistance, in bed, wheeled cart, or wheelchair to designated areas within facility during patient stay.
- Files and/or retrieves X-Ray folders in file room.
- Practices universal safety precautions, radiation protection techniques and magnetic field education to minimize exposure to patient, self and staff.
- Performs and provides evidence of ongoing quality assurance activities and collaborates and participates in quality review with others to evaluate the quality of care, performance and patient satisfaction (HCAPPS Survey).
- Participates in and ensures continuing education activities as supported and value-added to the current position are continually completed to maintain competency and quality of patient care.
- Promotes mission, vision and values of Intermountain Health and abides by service behavior standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competency and qualifications) based on business need.

- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or one to three months related experience and/or training.
- Obtain BLS within 60 days of hire
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Experience working in an imaging or patient care role.
Physical Requirements
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
- For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
