SUMMARY:
Grinder operates grinding lathes to grind, face and polish products and product parts to established blueprint and engineering specifications. Selects, mounts, attaches, and calibrates a variety of attachments to grind angles, contours, lines, spheres, etc. on to surfaces.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate a conventional lathe machine to grind parts to customers specifications
- Produce 300-400 wheels per shift for multiple manufacturing paper applications
- Polish up to 500 rollers
- Inspect material prior to bonding part to the core
- Add labels to each piece and package in Ziplock’s if required by customer
- Clean parts as necessary with sand blaster and/or air hose to remove oil and dust.
- Perform incoming inspection
- Create samples as requested by Supervisor
- Follow all safety policies and procedures
- Follow all company policies and procedures
- Maintain a neat, safe, clean, organized work area
- Available to work overtime during the week and weekends if necessary
- Additional responsibilities as assigned by management
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge and Print reading skills
- 1-3 years of exact experience preferred
- Experience with grinding and polish rubber machines, calipers, micrometers
DESIRED SKILLS:
- Quick Learner
- Forklift Certified
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE:
- High School degree.
- Forklift experience
- Minimum of 2 years in similar field or machine
- 1-2 years using manual tools (i.e., calipers, indicators, handheld measuring tools etc..) to perform grinding operations
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift and manipulate 40 lbs.
- Able to hear and distinguish the machine noises
- Good sense of smell
- Excellent close and distant vision.
- Ability to stand 8 hours plus per workday.
