Overall Purpose Of The Job:
This position is in support of the ICE Health Services Corps (IHSC) whose mission is to provide medical care to maintain the health of individuals in the custody of ICE through an integrated health care delivery system, based on nationally recognized correctional, detention and residential health care standards. The Agency is
committed to providing healthcare services to protect the nation’s health, reduce global disease and provide medical support for the law enforcement mission of the safe apprehension, enforcement and removal of detained individuals involved in immigration proceedings. IHSC is committed to ensuring a system of care that
is ethical, responsible, and accountable through rigorous surveillance and monitoring activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all functions related to healthcare worker and other contractor staff credentialing, recredentialing and privileging in accordance with regulatory/compliance guidelines as well as IHSC
- Responsible for obtaining and verifying credentials, certifications, state licensures, and other
current.
- Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the credential/privileging files, whether in hard copy or
- Initiates and follows through on all aspects of the credentialing process, including initial and recredentialing, for all healthcare and other staff as needed.
- Prepares and generates healthcare worker and other staff credentialing/privileging packets and
- Conduct various background checks from a wide variety of sources as needed to verify the
Offender Registry, and the National Student Clearinghouse.
- Maintains new hire as well as on-going credential files for IHSC staff, and makes them accessible as
- Responsible for updating and maintaining the currency of all credential files. Verify that annual or
the current status of all staff
- Produce monthly and ad hoc reports to identify any missing data or credentials, any
- Verify/validate employment experience, education, licensure, residency and other training, specialty
as needed.
- Document all work performed to ensure that all information is properly recorded and tracked
- Works closely with vendor recruiting staff as needed to provide updates on the status of activities and

Education Required:
Degree issuing institution and or program must be accredited by an entity recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- One year credentialing experience, preferably in the medical/healthcare environment.
- Experience in automated credentialing systems.
Required Licenses / Certifications
- Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) by the National Association Medical Staff Services.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of the credentialing and privileging process, requirements and scope of practice.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, to prioritize needs and expedite credentialing upon request.
