Position Overview

In this role, you’ll be testing samples of aggregate, concrete & asphalt to ensure that only the best quality materials are used as we work together to build our communities. Wage: $20 /hr DOE w/ potential for overtime

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties & Functions)
- Collect samples from asphalt, concrete or aggregate plants
- Performs field tests for density or other properties
- Performs and records aggregate gradations
- Performs field tests for concrete performance
- Process samples using a variety of testing equipment and procedures
- Promptly communicate with supervisors on any flaws in material.
- Take action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions.
- Record data and enter information into computer systems
- Communicates with plant staff
- Travel to and from various sites
- Performs general clean-up and maintenance duties as assigned
- Routinely assist other members of the work force in different areas of production
- Regular and timely attendance
- Participate in and promote an inclusive work environment
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
- Minimum two years in concrete and asphalt production or closely related field highly preferred.
- Ability to obtain A.C.I. Concrete Technician certification, Concrete Strength Testing certification, and all applicable WAQTC certifications.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
- Valid driver’s license required.

- Demonstrates the ability to work independently, without direct supervision.

- Demonstrates organizational and time management skills.
- Must pass physical exam and pre-employment controlled substance testing.

- GRIP – with at least 90 lbs. of force

- HEAVY LIFTING – of extremely awkward parts and equipment up to 75 lbs. from floor to waist
- AWKWARD POSITIONS – getting to and from both sitting and kneeling on the ground
- FLEXIBILITY – awkward reaches
- BALANCE – including standing and walking on extremely slick and uneven surfaces while carrying.
- VISION – 20/40 corrected vision to see moving safety hazards, moving equipment, vehicles, and obstructions
- HEARING – corrected to hear verbal safety warnings and instructions from coworkers
