Technical Training Manager

Overview

As a Technical Training Manager at Interstates, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing comprehensive technical training programs for our team members. Your primary goal will be to collaborate with other leaders to establish the technical training needs of our various disciplines and work with trainers to fulfill those needs. You will ensure that our technical staff possesses the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles and contribute to the success of our projects and initiatives. You will work closely with various teams to identify training needs, develop curriculum, and deliver effective training sessions. Additionally, you will continuously evaluate and update training materials to keep pace with technological advancements and industry best practices, and track training participants and completion.

Additional Information: The pay range for this position is $90-115K benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by the experience and education required, and level of responsibility. The range posted for this role represents a range that Interstates, in good faith, believes it is willing to pay at the time of this posting. The pay is determined by job related skills, training, education, and experience.

Responsibilities

  1. Training Program Development: Design and develop technical training programs tailored to the needs of different departments and job roles within the organization.
  2. Training the Trainers: Assess and continuously improve training delivery, methods, and materials for ongoing effectiveness.
  3. Curriculum Design: Create training courses and materials, including presentations, manuals, online resources, and hands-on exercises, to facilitate effective learning experiences.
  4. Training Delivery: Conduct safe, engaging, and informative training sessions, workshops, and seminars either in person or through virtual platforms, ensuring that participants gain a thorough understanding of the subject matter.
  5. Needs Assessment: Collaborate with Interstates leaders and project managers to assess training needs and identify areas for skill development and improvement for team members at all experience levels.
  6. Resource Management: Coordinate with internal and external subject matter experts to leverage their knowledge and expertise in delivering specialized technical training.
  7. Evaluation and Feedback: Develop assessment tools and metrics to measure the effectiveness of training programs and gather feedback from participants for continuous improvement.
  8. Technology Adoption: Promote the adoption of new technologies and tools by providing training and support to ensure a smooth transition and maximize productivity.
  9. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of training activities, including attendance, feedback, and performance evaluations, to track progress and compliance.
  10. Licensing: Ensure tracking of all licensing and key certifications throughout the organization.
  11. Stay Current: Keep abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in technical training and incorporate relevant advancements into training programs.
  12. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Organizational Development, HR, IT, Safety, and Operations, to align training initiatives with organizational goals and objectives.
  13. Safety: Ensure all training activities adhere to safety guidelines and promote a culture of safety within the organization.

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience (4 years of work experience).
    • Proven experience in designing and delivering technical training programs, preferably in a corporate trade or enterprise business environment.
    • Experience in evaluating training effectiveness and implementing continuous improvement measures.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of instructional design principles, adult learning theories, and training methodologies.
    • Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner.
    • Proficiency in using learning management systems (LMS), e-learning authoring tools, and other training technologies.
    • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple training initiatives simultaneously and meet deadlines.
    • Ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
    • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and business needs in a dynamic work environment.
  • Certifications: Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) or Certified Technical Trainer (CTT ) are a plus but not required.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%.
  • Location: Preferred to be based out of Sioux Center, IA, or Omaha offices. OR within driving distance to a regional office if remote based.
