Construction Estimator

Ideal Candidate: Construction Estimator who is capable in preparing cost estimates by analyzing proposals/requirements and who can quantify the materials, labor, and equipment needed to complete a construction project.

This candidate will have current local market and industry knowledge, be very comfortable with numbers and has a good understanding of construction and ability to read plans. Must have great attention to detail and excellent communication skills.

The goal is to provide the company with accurate information that will help in operations and strategic planning as well as executing the final client proposal.

Estimator Job Responsibilities:

• Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
• Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
• Computes costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.
• Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
• Professionally communicates concerns/questions directly with client to acquire vital information to estimation process
• Presents prepared estimate by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.
• Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Maintains cost data base by entering and backing up data.
• Visit sites, warehouses and other venues to gather essential information
• Foster relationships with key vendors (subcontractors, architects etc.)
• Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Estimator Skills & Requirements:

• Proven experience as estimator or similar position
• Good understanding of construction and ability to read plans
• Basic understanding of accounting and project management concepts
• Deep understanding of research methodology, data analysis and estimation metrics
• Comfortable with numbers and technology with an analytical mindset
• Proficient knowledge of software like: STACK, DASH, Timberline, Buildertrend, PLANSWIFT
• Great attention to detail
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
• Well-organized and reliable

Required education:

• High School Diploma/ GED / Technical Degree

Required experience:

• Construction Estimating: 1 year preferred or equivalent construction experience
• Trainable

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year
