Job Summary
:
The Executive Director of Human Resources reports directly to the Head of School and is a member of the senior administration. The Executive Director of Human Resources plans, develops, and implements strategies with respect to human resource activities. This role oversees HR functions, including recruitment and onboarding, compensation and salary administration, payroll functions, benefits administration, employee engagement, faculty/staff and administration relations, and employment practices and procedures. The Executive Director of Human Resources is critical in defining and delivering HR initiatives, programs, and best practices and offers strategic guidance on policy matters consistent with the School’s culture and mission.
Duties and Responsibilities
:
- Defines HR strategies in partnership with school leadership, setting objectives and plans to support and enhance the faculty and staff experience and engagement.

Partners with departments to attract, select, and retain excellent candidates.

Develops, maintains, and improves employee relationships through communication, performance management, and dispute resolution. Serve as a resource to help guide positive outcomes.

Collaborates to develop and implement appropriate, consistent, and up-to-date HR strategies, policies, processes, and standards.

Receives and responds to HR matters in a timely, accurate, informative, and professional manner.
- Administers employee benefit programs as well as benefit enrollment, plan changes, benefit related claims, and prepares and conducts benefit informational meetings.

Manages and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Department.

Processes and administers employee FMLA, medical, and personal leave requests.

Manages and leads the Employee Wellness/Blue Zones program, including employee flu and covid immunization clinics.

Oversees the retiree medical benefit program, and serves as a liaison to retired faculty and staff for HR related matters.

Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
:
- At least ten (10) years of consecutive and current experience in a human resources management role.

Flexibility, initiative, and the ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.

Professional judgment, attention to detail, discretion, and diplomacy.

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.

Excellent computer skills, proficiency with Microsoft programs, and experience with payroll and benefit systems.
- Bachelor’s degree required. Certification in Human Resources or an advanced degree preferred.
Physical Requirements

- Extended periods of sitting.

Due to work in close proximity to children, must pass fingerprinting and background clearance checks. TB clearance required.
