Position: International Enrollment Coach/Student Liaison

General Job Summary:

This is a full-time position located on the Estherville Campus. Primary responsibility is to provide college preparation counseling and information about Iowa Lakes Community College to prospective students and for recruitment purposes with emphasis in the international student community. Travel and represent Iowa Lakes Community College across the state of Iowa and surrounding states.

Constant

Support diverse student populations with emphasis working with the international student population.

Conduct visits to high schools to recruit, promote, and market the college to prospective international students.

Conduct and implement an international recruiting plan, correspondence with prospective students through the enrollment process, and engage in collaboration with organizations related to the recruitment of international students.

Promote the features and benefits of Iowa Lakes Community College to prospective students, high school counselors, and high school teachers.

Coordinate community building activities and programs for international students that will enhance persistence through their program(s) of study.

Obtain and track minority and international student demographic information.

Serve as a PDSO (Principal Designated School Official) and/or DSO (Designated School Official) for the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS), certified by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as an on-campus “proxy field agent” to the college.

Create and send international student Acceptance Packets via email/Dropbox, including the appropriate Forms I-20 (Initial Attendance, Transfer Pending, and Change of Status Requested).

Be familiar with the certification, diploma, and degree programs at Iowa Lakes Community College

Be familiar with Iowa Lakes Community College and International Student (SEVP) policies and procedures for admission, financial aid, etc.

Promote and maintain open communication with all college constituents.

Ensure International Students maintain lawful visa status, applications to and cultural concerns via phone, email, video calls, and/or through in-person appointments and walk-ins.

Monitor International Students’ academic progress while attending Iowa Lakes.

Maintain compliance with SEVP policies.

International Application Review to assist freshmen and transfer applicants with accurate preparation for review.

Verify official English proficiency test scores such as TOEFL and Duolingo.

Serve as a resource regarding English proficiency requirements, international admissions policies, and procedures.

Access the federal SEVIS database to create/update records and documents for student visa processing.

Actively manage enrollment status changes, SEVIS Alerts, and other activities to ensure compliance with regulations.

Verify students meet academic requirements of their visa.

Frequent

(34-66%)

Coordinate international student orientation, onboarding, insurance, and airport transportation.

Complete Check-In for all incoming F-1 and M-1 students each fall and spring semester.

Review and keep record of International Students’ I-94, contract information, and address.

Register International students each semester in SEVIS.

Assist with organizing special event days (Career Day, College Day, First Day Activities, College Visit Days, Clay County Fair, and Summer Orientation) for recruitment of new students.

Assist students with programs, admissions, international, and advising questions.

Attend and participate in monthly student services and all-campus meetings.

Occasional

(10-33%)

Annual P/DSO Verification through SEVIS.

Actively participate in college committees.

Attend staff meetings, regional, state, and promotional meetings for continued professional growth.

Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of general and ethical admissions processes and procedures practiced by postsecondary educational institutions.

Knowledge of rules and regulations governing international students.

Ability to assume responsibility, deal effectively with problems, and exercise good judgment when making decisions.

Self-starter and can function under limited supervision.

Represent the College in a positive manner to the public, prospective students and their families, visitors, and employees.

Must be enthusiastic and energetic in performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.

Knowledge of e-recruitment and social networking technologies.

Ability to efficiently perform tasks in an environment of frequent interruptions.

Must have the ability to organize, multi-task and communicate effectively.

Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer for word processing, and database information.

Thorough knowledge of office procedures, telephone techniques and office equipment, as well as correct English usage, grammar, punctuation, and arithmetic.

Ability to read and understand written and oral instructions or communications.

Special Demands:

Light to medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally (10-33%). Stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, and carrying frequently (34-66%). Walking, lifting, grasping and repetitive motion frequently (34-66%). Talking, hearing, and viewing various types of close visual work constantly (67-100%). Required to travel utilizing personal vehicle. Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record and provide proof of insurance.

Employment with Iowa Lakes Community College is dependent upon successful passage of a criminal background check. Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree desired. Must possess excellent people and sales skills and have a thorough understanding of Community Colleges and the role they play in the state educational system. Adequate Smartphone, mobile apps, and computer skills and a willingness to travel extensively are essential. Bi-lingual in Spanish and English preferred. Admissions and /or international student experience desired.

Salary: $46,000 for a 260-day contract
