Position Information: Position Title: Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach Appointment Type: Contract Job Description: Iowa State University is accepting applications for an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach to support assigned NCAA Division I Olympic sports under the direction of the Director of Strength and Conditioning. The initial sport assignment will be Women’s Soccer and Women’s Tennis. Duties include: Evaluate, design and implement cutting-edge strength, agility, and conditioning workouts for assigned positions and seasons; Teach and demonstrate proper techniques and safety, conduct performance testing, adapt workouts based on each student-athletes needs and health, and motivate athletes; Run sports performance practices and game preparation and aid the coaching staff by managing wearable technology data, preparing daily performance reports on student-athletes, and assisting in analyzing the data; Work collaboratively with the Sports Medicine professionals and Coaching staff; Contribute to and enhance a competitive athletic experience; Establish and maintain an environment conducive to the welfare and academic success of the student-athletes; Establish and maintain effective interactions with students, colleagues, university staff and administrators, alumni, media and the public; Commitment to and responsibility for adhering to all rules and regulations of the University, Big 12 Conference, and NCAA. The ideal candidate will have solid technical knowledge related to S&C for soccer; strong organization, decision-making, database, and analytical skills; and exceptional teaching, motivational, and communication skills. Candidates are expected to be committed to multiculturalism and working with a diverse student body. Must be available and flexible to work evenings and weekends and to travel with the team to competitions. Candidates will be required to have and maintain current certification through a nationally accredited strength and conditioning certification program in accordance with NCAA requirements. Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. Experience coaching strength and conditioning for a professional or collegiate sports program. Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the CSCCa. CPR/AED and First Aid certified. Preferred Qualifications Experience planning and implementing all areas of sports performance for an elite-level soccer team. Experience monitoring and preparing athlete performance reports through Catapult or similar GPS tracking technology. Master’s degree in exercise science, kinesiology, or a related field.
