Position Information: Position Title: Associate Director of the National Concrete Pavement Technology Center Appointment Type: Contract Job Description: Summary The National Concrete Pavement Technology Center (CP Tech Center) is a national center formed to unite agencies, industry and researchers to advance best practices and innovations in concrete pavement technology. The Center started as a collaboration in Iowa between Industry, agency (Iowa DOT) and Iowa State University to provide independent expertise on all aspects of concrete pavement design, specification and construction. Within several years its role was expanded to include national coverage and funding with engagement with Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), and national trade associations. The Center has positioned itself at the fulcrum of the three entities and consists of nationally recognized experts to engage with and maintain the support of all three groups. Lead national initiatives and serve as a nationally recognized expert to plan and implement strategies to enhance the performance of concrete pavements into the future. Manage (Indirect) the work of consultants and university professors throughout the country. Collaborate with Industry, Agencies and Academia across the nation to discover and implement sustainable technologies for pavement construction and maintenance. Provide training, act as liaisons between industries, state DOTs and Federal Agencies, and address complex technical pavement-related questions. Write national standards and specifications. Engage with Industry executives and Agency leadership in a fund-raising role. Plan and manage national workshops, conferences and symposia. Direct multi-million-dollar multi-disciplinary research and implementation projects funded by federal and state agencies which include multiple subcontractors. Provide strategic responses to maintaining a soft-funded Center. The ideal candidates will be industry experts who are exceptional communicators with proven leadership, problem solving, training and project and team leadership skills. At this time, this is a 1 year term position with the opportunity for renewal. This position may require up to 25% travel. Preferred Qualifications: Degree in civil engineering. Related master's degree. Experience working with senior level industry/agency management. Experience leading large teams. Experience managing research and/or implementation activities.
