Job Description:
Summary
The Procurement Services Department at Iowa State University is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Procurement Agent position. The objective of an ISU Procurement Agent is to provide efficient, timely, and effective sourcing and procurement services for the university while maximizing the university’s resources. This position will be responsible for procuring goods and services in the scientific commodity area that may include lab equipment and supplies and equipment service agreements in conjunction with other Scientific commodity procurement agents. This position may also work in other commodity areas that they may have experience in.
Responsibilities of the position include assistance with or direct management of:
- procurement of goods and services
- writing and managing contracts to ensure compliance with performance, state and federal law, University policy and Board of Regents policy
- negotiating remedies for noncompliance when necessary
- supplier relationship management
- developing functional and/or technical specifications
- evaluating or editing terms and conditions for procurement of good and services
- establishing criteria of award, evaluating and analyzing bid proposals, and facilitating award decisions in cooperation with requesting departments.
The successful candidate will possess strong analytic skills and be innovative, professional, organized, and detail oriented. Strong reasoning, interpreting, and written and verbal communication skills will be necessary in order to be successful in the position. The individual will possess the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team and problem solve effectively. Strong and efficient personal computer skills, as well as the ability to foster positive, collegial, and collaborative relationships with diverse groups of internal and external constituents, will be essential for success. The successful candidate also will possess the ability to provide exceptional customer service while meeting deadlines and working effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment while adhering to applicable state and federal laws and established Board of Regents and university policies and procedures.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.
