Experience with event planning and logistics Proficiency with digital applications and online collaboration tools, such as MS Office, Google Platform Applications, Mural, Adobe, and Creative Applications. Experience creating written communications or program materials, such as social media posts, web content, pamphlets, brochures, flyers, and announcements. Job Description: This will be a shared position, reporting 50% to the Biological Pre-Medical Illustration (BPMI) director and 50% the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Academy (I E) director in LAS. The Biological/Pre-Medical Illustration (BPMI) major focuses on Communicating Science Through Art and is one of the longest-standing and most successful programs in undergraduate scientific and pre-medical illustration/visualization education. Known as a “destination major,” the BPMI program has been drawing students to ISU for over 39 years, specifically for this unique interdisciplinary program that blends art, communication, science, and technology, and embodies creativity, innovative methodologies, and the human experience. BPMI is a cross-college major shared by the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences (CLAS) and the College of Design (COD) and is administered by the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs in CLAS. The Liberal Arts and Sciences Innovation and Entrepreneurship Academy (LAS I E) is a two-year academy for all LAS majors, where students engage in online, face-to-face, and interactive activities to experience and develop an innovative and entrepreneurial mindset. During the second year, students are matched with a mentor so they can emerge from the academy with a well-defined path to develop their big idea, which could be an innovative product or service, a way to ignite social change, or a way to transform an existing organization. Students leave the academy with four credits, a network, and the skills necessary to become an agent of change. The successful candidate will possess exceptional organizational and analytical skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and demonstrate initiative and positivity. A focus on student success, the good of the whole, and growth of the two Programs is a must. Strong problem-solving skills and an exceptional ability to coordinate a variety of activities are needed to be successful in this role. Good independent judgment and ability to synthesize multiple detailed information sets into streamlined and user-friendly protocols, processes, and reports is essential to this position. Ability to work well in an academic environment, with students, faculty, and staff, including meeting and advising, as well as referring others to program resources as needed is key. Duties include: General event planning and coordination, including materials preparation and printing, food ordering, set up and tear down for events such as workshops and seminars, fall orientation and semester kick-off, and special events. Assisting with tracking and connecting with alumni, establishing a system for staying connected with graduates, working with alumni offices and Director to participate in outreach communications, tracking, and establishing and maintaining meaningful connections. Assisting with newsletters and outputting materials for on -campus purposes, such as video boards and displays, distributing materials, generating and participating in general communication needs, sending announcements and calendar invites. Assisting with marketing efforts for the Program. Course and room scheduling. Conducting student interest surveys. Coordinating and participating in recruitment and student success efforts, including prospective student campus visits and new student orientation student success events, set up and take down of program materials, generating and purchasing new materials, open houses, workshops, on-campus events, program presentations. Working with the Director in procuring and managing new material supplies and technology, ensuring spaces are well stocked, tracking and planning purchases, generating expense reports, and planning fund-raising events and efforts. Liaising with numerous college offices and departments for collaboration opportunities and the business of the Program. This is not a virtual or hybrid position. Work is on campus and candidate will split time between offices in different buildings. Candidate should anticipate occasional evening or weekend work for student programs or special events.
