Role Overview: Product Xplan Mortgage combines Mortgage and Protection sourcing in a single platform. It reduces the need to re-key and drives greater efficiencies with straight through processing from fact find to online sourcing and application. We are seeking a forward thinking, highly motivated Senior Engineer to join our XPM team.The Senior Engineer is a role that is responsible for delivering against the various aspects of product engineering from inception to deployment and production support. Your objectives and responsibilities will focus on… Produces high-quality, robust and resilient software, whether through the development of new code or the modification and improvement of existing code. Ensures quality is "built-in" and ensures quality is inspected appropriately using automation testing techniques. Participates and provides quality input into any requirements or analysis of solutions, features or non-functional requirements. Provides support for software or solutions. Takes initiative in troubleshooting even if they are not the 'primary' engineer and resolves issues quickly and effectively Contributes positively to the team, provides relevant and appropriate inputs to enable effective team outcomes to be delivered. Fosters and develops strong working relationships with the wider technology group and takes feedback or seeks guidance from more senior engineers. Provides mentoring to less-experienced engineers, ensuring an uplift in the quality of new code or changes to existing code. Effectively manages work, whether assigned or taken. Ensures dependencies, issues or risks on other teams are known and owns remediation of such. Contributes to, or leads in the design of features and non-functional outcomes within the software. Leads the removal of any manual work existing or introduced by automating in line with other teams, or by leveraging strategic tooling or methods. Ensures leverage and scale is gained by working cross-functionally and cross-team. Uses or contributes to platform services. Ensures software security is appropriate and remediates efficiently if inadequacies arise. To be successful in this role you will… You will be a driven, ambitious team player with experience working in Agile-based environments and enjoys thinking about and implementing innovative ways to solve problems and enjoys thinking about and implementing innovative ways to solve problems. You will be confident to coach less-experienced engineers to support team upskilling while driving software quality through testing across the pipeline, including security, performance, load, functional and integration testing and uses design patterns to improve software design. You will be a strong front end developer with experience in; React, Angular, Javascript, Typescript, CCS or Vue. You will also have an understanding of backend engineering languages such as; C#, .net, Python or Java. You will have experience in application architecture, in older and newer frameworks and be able to lead the design and build of software to "clean code" principles and drive good practice. Other preferably experience includes building and deploying infrastructure with cloud deployment technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and implementing fully automated, end to end build and deployment pipelines.
