What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) position at IRI?
IRI is seeking a driven and energetic Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) to join the Clinical Services team. As a BIS, you will play a critical role supporting the mental health and overall wellness of the people in our group homes and day programs, similar to an in-house psychologist/counselor. This is a full-time position (M-F, 9-5) that requires traveling in your own vehicle between different group homes in Queens, Nassau, Brooklyn or the Bronx (assigned a cluster of 5 programs).

Key Responsibilities:
- BIS/Psychologist will develop and implement behavior support, mental health treatment plans to address the behavioral and psychiatric needs of the individuals
- BIS/Psychologist will monitor and track the individuals' behavior data ensuring that all forms and documentation is completed properly
- BIS/Psychologist will train staff on implementation of all prescribed behavior supports and individualized protocols reviewed and approved by the agency’s Licensed Psychologist
- BIS/Psychologist will provide counseling and therapeutic services to individuals on assigned cluster
- BIS/Psychologist will comply with all OPWDD regulations and standards as well as with internal policies and procedures
- BIS/Psychologist will participate in various committees and follow through on their recommendations
- BIS/Psychologist cluster may total up to 5 residential programs (no more than 50 cases) to be visited on a weekly basis which requires your own vehicle for transportation
About You
You are the ideal candidate if you are interested in having a successful career in counseling, psychology or mental health counseling while making a positive impact in the community and helping individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities create the life of their choice. - You have at least a Master’s degree from an accredited program in a clinical or treatment field of psychology, social work, school psychology, or applied psychology as it relates to human development and clinical intervention and documented training in assessment techniques and behavior support plan development -OR- National Board Certification in Behavior Analysis (BCBA)-OR- NYS License as a Behavior Analyst (LBA) (Requirement)
- You have documented training in assessment techniques and behavior support plan development
- You have a minimum of 1 year of experience working directly with individuals with developmental disabilities, including the development, implementation, and monitoring of behavior support plans
- Must have a car with a valid driver's license in good standing
- You have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
- You are organized and detail-oriented
- You are technology savvy
- You are a strong team player and highly energetic
