What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Technician position at Iron Ox?
We are looking for an FSQA Technician to help us grow and develop our newest production facility located in Lockhart, TX. You will be joining the team at an exciting time in our company’s growth. The ideal candidate is a motivated, organized individual with a passion for agriculture and innovation. This is a full time position based in Lockhart and will report to the Food Safety Manager.
What You Will Do
- Promote and maintain a clean and safe work environment that promotes work safety and product integrity.
- Conduct and document pre-operational inspections and in process-checks for food safety and/or quality with and without supervision.
- Ensure SDS for all chemicals used in the plant are documented and up-to-date.
- Provide quality testing, analysis, and review to ensure that product quality and standards are being achieved.
- Execute sampling and shipment of samples to the 3rd party lab service provider, recording and tracking associated results and data.
- Work cross functionally with production teams to promote the continuous improvement of our food safety program.
- Immediately notify appropriate personnel of any issues directly affecting product quality to ensure that corrective actions are taken to meet our quality and food safety standards.
What You Will Bring
- Minimum six months year directly related Food Safety and Quality Assurance experience working in a food production environment or processing plant is required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Ability to follow written procedures in English or Spanish.
- General understanding of food production processes, cleaning procedures and equipment.
- Passionate about producing safe and healthy food for the public.
- Detailed oriented
- Ability to think critically
- Ability to work first and second shifts
Nice-To-Haves:
- Experience with CEA production of leafy greens and herbs
- Prior HACCP certification, Food Handler and other certification
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand frequently.
- Ability to lift/push/pull up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to bend, twist, and perform hand and arm motions.
Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to work in greenhouse conditions, a wide range of temperatures, humidity, and sunlight
- Strong odors from machinery, sanitizers, isopropyl alcohol etc.
- Occasional loud noises from machinery
