Job Description What you can expect in a typical day The Innovation Lead is responsible for managing a portfolio of innovation projects that enable us to evolve with our customers and remain competitive in our markets. The role will help to conceive, source, design and test new products, services and customer experiences. Innovations will range from small to large, near-term to mid-term, but they will always be focused on the customer and improving their experience with Irving Oil Ltd. The role is heavily based in customer-centricity, lean design, and fast learning. For some projects, the Innovation Lead will help develop innovative MVP’s (Minimal Viable Products) to rapidly prototype and test in real market scenarios. For others, the role will work with cross-functional teams to launch new products and services making use of existing assets and capabilities. The role also operates within a hybrid work model, which will offer you the ability work from home for a portion of your week and then make use of in-person office days to collaborate and build strong professional relationships; all within a beautiful modern office environment. Manage live market tests and small prototype deployment to assesses concepts. For larger innovations, manage cross-functional project teams comprising of stream leads to help test and execute new products, services and/or experiences. Regularly launch MVP prototypes into the market to learn and refine – building only what we need, to learn what we need. Help identify gaps and opportunities in the experience to guide innovation development. Work collaboratively with the lines of business as a partner to drive positive change and enable agile innovation tests. Help lead brainstorming sessions to draw out new ideas and novel solutions to meaningful customer problems. Ensure feedback and learning from customers, external, partners and internal teams are incorporated into iterative development cycles. Increase the visibility of innovation across the business and demonstrate the team’s value to drive real business results. Establish and track success metrics for innovations at various stages. Work with the analytics, finance and research teams to gather data/insights to build concepts, evaluate performance and created high level business cases.
