Position Summary
Conducts various ESH projects in the areas of Environmental, Safety and Health. Intern will have exposure to and learn various aspects of ESH practices during a twelve-to-fifteen-week internship. Intern will become familiar with Lean manufacturing principles and philosophy.
Essential Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES may include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Complete Standard Work/Job Safety Analysis templates for manufacturing operations throughout Lancaster Operations.
Implement, maintain policies, programs, and procedures within the ITT Engineered Valves Scope.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, state and local requirements and ITT Technical Manual and IP Policies.
Conducts workplace surveys, safety audits, 6S audits and other ESH assessments. Advise management of corrective actions required.
Provides/supports ESH communications, briefing and training sessions as appropriate to fulfill regulatory requirements and foster a safe working environment.
Attend/support/participate in safety team meetings.
Assist with accident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective action identification and implementation.
Follow all applicable Departmental and Shop safety rules.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Current undergraduate or graduate student in good standing in the areas of Mechanical, Industrial, or Occupational Safety and Environmental Health or other related discipline. Exposure to or understanding of Lean manufacturing principles preferred but not required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts, such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
COMPUTING SKILLS
Ability to effectively utilize word processing software and spreadsheets and to navigate and use other custom applications software in a MS Windows environment.
