Job Description
The Staff Accountant will report to the Accounting Manager and will be responsible for producing data that drives timely and accurate financial statements. This role will perform detailed accounting tasks that support and meet financial reporting and internal control requirements. The Staff Accountant will work closely with the Accounting Manager and will be responsible for a wide variety of analytical and specialized accounting support. The Staff Accountant will demonstrate the ability to become a trusted ERP system super user, focusing on bill of materials, general ledger maintenance, accounts payable or accounts receivable, and inventory transactions. Supporting the Divisional Business Unit Leaders with insightful analysis and reporting.
- Manage Divisional Bill of Materials entries and data integrity
- Update and manage cost updates and standards roll
- Perform weekly interface function between ERP & General Ledger System
- Prepare various general ledger entries, month end procedures
- Prepare account reconciliations, variance analysis, and various accrual calculations
- Inventory grading (active & slow moving) and Shrink support
- Standard monthly reporting (EHS metrics, Sutax, SLOB)
- Assist Accounting Management with Divisional Physical Inventory
- Monitor compliance with company policies and internal control procedures
- Participates in preparing audit materials, including any documentation, and ensures that all entries are entered into the system properly
- Serving as a backup and/or assisting, as needed, to the Accounting Manager
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 2-4 year Accounting degree or equivalent education and/or related experience
- 2 years of experience in Accounting function (manufacturing environment preferred) or demonstrated strong learning capability
- Ability to demonstrate an analytical mindset and process more advanced areas of Accounting and Accounting Principles
- Position requires a professional, enthusiastic, detailed oriented individual with proven organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to demonstrate a strong analytical mindset
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to identify areas for opportunity or simplification and implement best practices
- Little supervision required
- Strong Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint
- Self-motivated, ability to multitask, and high level of professionalism
- Ability to learn new skills and the desire for upward mobility and professional growth
