What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacy Technician position at IWP?
Working directly within the Pharmacy Department, this position is responsible for preparing prescriptions for shipment, triaging incoming calls from both patients and providers, and providing superior service to patients. This position is responsible for ensuring that prescriptions are accurately and efficiently.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Enter prescription information into system to be verified by the Pharmacist
- Assist in prescription preparation including selection of correct medication, accurately counting, bottling, and labeling prescriptions in preparation for shipment.
- Prepare and consolidate patient prescriptions for shipment.
- Assist in inventory activities including replenishment of pharmacy stock and supplies.
- Ensure the pharmacy is clean and organized and filling stations are restocked throughout the day.
- Provide superior patient service including triaging incoming phone calls, confirming prescription accuracy, setting appropriate expectations, and following through on service commitments.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- Massachusetts Registered Technician License or Technician Trainee License in good standing
- Demonstrates computer acumen including typing, functional computer knowledge, and Microsoft Office
- Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and oral
- Certified Pharmacy Technician License preferred
- 2 years relevant pharmacy experience preferred
- Retail, long-term care or mail order experience preferred, but not required
- Ability to work the following schedule:
- Monday: 10:00 - 6:30 PM
- Tuesday: 8:00 - 4:30 PM
- Wednesday: 12:00 - 8:30 PM
- Thursday: 8:00 - 4:30 PM
- Friday: 12:00 - 8:30 PM
- Every 5th Saturday: 8:00 - 12:00 PM
- Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position including standing or sitting for up to 8 hours per day
