What are the responsibilities and job description for the Groundskeeper position at JACK Main?
Reporting to the Director of Facilities, the JACK Cleveland Casino Groundskeeper will be responsible for the exterior upkeep of the property (building, grounds, parking garages) to enhance and maintain curb appeal. This position performs work required for the maintenance, repair, and improvement of the exterior of the property.
Essential Functions
- Inspect property daily—grounds, building, outside areas, outside lighting, and public areas to ensure curb appeal and to detect hazards, problems, and the need for service repair and or replacement.
- Record and report all needed repairs.
- Report incidents and hazardous conditions to the Director of Facilities.
- Perform, as-needed, cleaning including trash/debris removal, emptying receptacles, power washing, as well as seasonal activities involving snow removal.
- Maintenance of lighting and light fixtures
- Maintains sidewalks surrounding the property (building, grounds, parking garages).
- Performs general exterior repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, general touch-up painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures.
- Completes repair work and projects, as assigned, in a timely manner.
- Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Must be able to work independently.
- Must be able to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time (4 hours).
- Must be able to respond calmly and make rational decisions when handling employee conflicts.
- Must be able to maneuver throughout all areas of the property and from floor to floor either by stairways (minimum of 20 steps) or escalator.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs; and, have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop and kneel.
- Respond to visual and aural cues.
- Must have the manual dexterity to operate a computer and other necessary office equipment.
- Must be able to tolerate areas containing dust, loud noises, and bright lights.
- Must be able to be subjected to environmental conditions- heat, humidity, wet, and cold
- Must be able to work varied shifts, weekends and holidays as needed.
- Ability to simultaneously manage several projects, and not be frustrated by changing priorities and unforeseen obstacles to achieving objectives.
- Ability to speak distinctly and persuasively.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate is required.
- Previous experience in general maintenance and repair preferred.
