JOB SUMMARY
The Custodian will be under the supervision of the Facilities Manager and is responsible for up keeping all Riis buildings / properties in proper cleaning conditions. Perform cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, walls, all entry doors frames, glass, remove snow or debris from sidewalk and rubbish/trash. The Custodian is also responsible for performing routine maintenance activities, notifying management of any repairs needed in the facility - Buildings.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Sweeping, and mopping all floors and stairways throughout the facilities as assigned.
- Clean and sanitize all bathrooms and restocking paper towels - tissue and soap in all dispensers.
- Clean sinks, countertops, microwaves, and refrigerators in break rooms and common areas and restock supplies as needed.
- Restock supplies in bathrooms, break rooms and common areas.
- Empty all trash cans and replace liners, clean receptacles as necessary.
- Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc.
- Strip and wax, buff, and apply floor Stripper & floor Shine finisher on commercial vinyl composition flooring
- Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools; buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, high pressure washers, high speed buffers and vacuums, brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc.
- Lock and unlock assigned buildings: secure buildings when facilities are not in use checking for unlocked doors and windows, report any unauthorized occupants, turn off lights.
- Remove snow or debris from sidewalks and stairways and lawn/garden around building grounds using hand-operated tools or small power equipment.
- Operation and controls of Fire alarm system, Air conditioning systems, Personnel lift and knowledge of all locations on electrical panels.
- Clean accessible interior and exterior windows inside ledge, blinds, Screens.
- Attend to emergencies when necessary.
- Attend safety meetings and other related meetings.
- Take classes as required in cleaning methods and techniques, new products, First Aid, CPR and working relationships.
- General maintenance of grounds
- Additional routine maintenance duties as assigned
Statement of Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- A minimum of 1 year of professional cleaning experience
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to work effectively with a team.
- Ability to work independently as needed to support the group effort.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning products or willing to learn.
Physical Demands:
The work requires routine walking, standing, bending and carrying items weighing less than fifty pounds. Moving items over fifty pounds utilizes a team lift.
