What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering Manager position at Jacob Darr Associates?
Primary responsibilities include:
- Manages Process Engineering team in support of daily and long-term production goals.
- Apply lean manufacturing techniques to design, specify, and validate world-class manufacturing processes to achieve cost, quality, and capacity goals. Directs and assists in the use of these techniques and tools to reduce waste and improve overall productivity.
- Assures the completion of audits and maintenance of standard optimal run setting documentation.
- Responsible for the development of the process engineers including both technical and professional training.
- Partners closely with production, plant engineering, quality and product development to prioritize and plan project work.
- Drives the completion of root cause analysis exercises to understand long term improvement needs to address both equipment efficiency and quality defect reduction. Manages and communicates the completion of these identified action items.
- Partners with production, purchasing and product development to identify opportunities with raw material processing as well as introduction of new materials into products.
- Establish metrics to develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods and processes.
- Create and manage a standard center lining program for the plant.
- Contribute projects and ideas towards plant cost savings program and help drive successful achievement of established goal.
- Drives positive results through periodic meetings to review performance improvements with production management.
- Lead the process definition on new production lines and major equipment upgrades during installation and start up.
- Direct efforts in gaining and maintaining knowledge of trends in the industry that lead to improvements in product quality, product consistency, process efficiency or cost reductions.
- Continually re-evaluates and adjust plans based on changing business priorities to attain required results. Adapts & leads change and constructively supports ongoing improvement philosophy throughout the company.
The ideal candidate should possess the following skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related manufacturing field or equivalent years of experience
- 6-8 years of applied professional experience working in process engineering or related manufacturing field in a high speed environment.
- Previous supervisory experience necessary.
- Ability to form and lead cross functional teams.
- Proven ability to lead and develop high performance work teams.
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification required, Black Belt certification preferred.

Pay: $125,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
