In turn, delivering even more fantastic new products to the US market.
The Product Planner will be responsible for executing the Range Rover strategy for automotive products and services through developing and managing the strategic positioning of the Velar and Evoque.
You will serve as the principle contact between North America and the Global Range Rover Product & Services team. Driving optimization of the product, attribute and content, along with their related price and volume implications for the North American market. You will define and build consensus for customer targets, competitive product sets and Range Rover positioning for these groups. You will be responsible for initiating and managing the preparation of positioning papers on these topics for senior management, including preparation for Board of Management and Executive Review Board discussions, Global Product Marketing Committee and Voice of Market.
As the ultimate champion for your products, you will also develop extremely close relationships with all other areas of the business. These stakeholders will be critical in helping to form and deliver the broader strategy and business plans.
What you will be doing:
- Lead the optimization and implementation of the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the US, working with the Global House of Brands to bring the Range Rover direction to life
- Act as voice of the market and client to the Global House of Brands to share best practice and knowledge, and to inform global strategies
- Monitor and analyze market sales, industry developments, competitive actions and economic outlook in order to prepare recommendations concerning product strategies within the Luxury Vehicle Segments, and its sub segments, relevant to Range Rover products
- Routinely analyze and prepare information concerning the activities of competitors in terms of their sales volumes, pricing strategies, product reviews, positioning against responsible products and any other related data, which may be used to compile a comprehensive competitive analysis for management reports, marketing, sales and training
- Support Research team in identifying future research needs
- On-going development and assessment of product measures (e.g. pricing, volume, sales mix) to bolster market share and brand strength in light of present and future market trends, ultimately seeking the optimal point between volume and profitability
- Identify and specify requirements for lifecycle measures on a model and intra-model level.
- Conduct internal Product Committees and formalize resulting NA Product Requests
- Collaborate with Market Research and Marketing Communications to analyze, develop and prepare customer targets, including demographics, psychographics and lifestyle descriptions
- Prepare Product, Pricing, Volume, Mix and Take Rate Reviews (PPVMT), inclusive of presentation to Executive team for final sign-off
- Provide input to the Public Relations team, Communications teams and Agencies with respect to the communication of JLR product benefits and PR & marketing message
- Ensure that consumer facing materials are correct in terms of factual accuracy, marketing message and consistency with target customer needs
- Communicate key vehicle details, inclusive of all model year changes and developments to the Retailer Network
- Enter all relevant data for assigned product line into IT applications to ensure proper information provided to consumers
- Ensure robust launch plans, including detail such as product timing, pricing and positioning, key attributes/features/USP's and competitive comparisons
- Perform other duties as required
What you will need:
- Must have a bachelor's degree in Marketing, Finance, Engineering, or a related discipline or equivalent work experience.
- 3-5 years of automotive industry experience
- 5 years experience similar to role
- Knowledge of product planning processes in automotive industry (OEM or Tier 1) is a plus;
- Previous experience/knowledge of market segmentation and research fundamentals, as well as experience analyzing key market data
- Strong analytical skill set, ideally with experience in pricing strategy, financial analysis and competitive analysis
- Strong negotiation and organizational skills
- Strong and effective communication skills, including ability to interact with Executives, Business leaders, Retailers, Press and Customers
- Strong business acumen and the ability to work with people at varying levels within the organization
- Highly motivated, a self-starter
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly PowerPoint and Excel
- Must have the ability to work well with tight deadlines, with speed and accuracy
- Must have the ability to travel (<10% of the time) and
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
