DAY-TO-DAY
This office position typically works 40 hours a week with occasional overtime.
In this estimating position, you play an important role in our bid process. You review the architectural drawings for various quick-serve restaurant projects and perform quantity take-offs. Meticulously, you take each item on the plans into consideration and ensure that everything is accounted for. You then complete the quote for our architectural millwork using established price lists. By paying strict attention to detail, you ensure that the bids we make on these projects are precise and accurate.
To assist in your estimating duties, you use our enterprise resource planning (ERP) software as well as Bluebeam Revu. You also collaborate with the project coordinators and designers to ensure that any discrepancies are corrected. A multi-tasker extraordinaire, you work on several projects at once to make sure we meet our deadlines with room to spare. REQUIREMENTS FOR AN ARCHITECTURAL MILLWORK ESTIMATOR
- Some college education
- Ability to read and understand floor plans, elevations, and product specifications
- Ability to prepare quantity take-offs and complete pricing for bid packages
- Understanding of unit of measure conversions to determine the materials needed, including the ability to calculate the width, length, square footage, yardage, etc.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and intermediate skills in Excel
A bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, materials science, or another relevant field is preferred. Proficiency with materials take-off software, such as Bluebeam Revu, and ERP software is also preferred. Experience with architectural millwork, cost estimation, or purchasing would be a plus.
