Test Technician

Overview

We are excited to be recruiting for a Test Technician to join our team based in Ardleigh.  This role is open to all levels of applicants including candidates looking to start a career in Engineering or those who have worked in a similar role before.

In our PLF International business (where this position sits) we design and manufacture what is one of the most flexible, gentle, user-friendly powder filling machines for rigid and semi-rigid containers in the world!

Responsibilities

So, what does our Test Technician do …. well, you will be responsible for the completion of powder tests for new & existing customers.  What that means is when a new customer comes to us with their product, we need to run a test for them to ensure that our machine is compatible with their product, so that if required we can make the necessary tweaks required to meet our customers’ needs.  The customer will also join you and observe the test process and once you have completed the test, recording your findings, you will then need to clean the machinery ready for the next test.  

There is an admin side to your role as you will be responsible for receiving customer samples and updating and maintaining a product register and you will also need to collate used powders for destruction under DEVRA guidelines.

We would like this role to be involved in more than just testing which will take up around 3 days a week, the rest of the time we would like you to assist us in maintaining our Health & Safety on-site (full training and support given) and this part of the role will require you to check and maintain job specific lifting equipment ready for dispatch in the UK.

From time to time there might also be general maintenance within the building that is required plus if you don’t drive one already, we will train you to drive a Forklift and how to handle materials.  You will build a great set of skills to take into an Engineering career, we envisage this role moving into our Customer Care team and from there perhaps into Design.

What would we like to see on your CV or for you to demonstrate at interview …

• If you have completed an apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering that would be excellent but to have at least completed a City and Guild would be required.
• Any experience of building and dismantling machinery, or an understanding of pneumatic circuits would be useful.
• Thrives at problem solving and using creative thinking.
• Computer literate with experience of Microsoft Outlook/Word/Excel.
• Reliable, keen with good time keeping.
• Being a driver is not a must but might be easier due to our location.
• Forklift experience (training as mentioned will be provided if required).
