What are the responsibilities and job description for the Education Specialist (Bilingual) position at JCCA?
Job Summary:
The Education Specialist is charged with overseeing the educational goals for all clients within the UC program. They will be responsible for tracking the client’s educational progress ensuring that barriers are corrected or addressed with expediency with school personnel. The Specialist will also be expected to provide an in-house educational plan for each client that may include tutoring services. The Educational Specialist will maintain direct contact with each client, school personnel and foster resource as needed. .
Essential Job Functions:
- Promotes JCCA and the UC mission, programs, goals and accomplishments
- Oversee the Educational Goals of all clients in the program.
- Escort clients to the Welcome Center and facilitate enrollment into appropriate school programs within the community.
- Conduct quarterly check-in with school to ensure optimal performance of each client.
- Facilitate needed assessments for youth who are underperforming in school or may require additional support
- Make referrals as needed for educational support
- Provide individual and group tutoring
Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Human Service
- Background knowledge in tutoring/education or training. Must have knowledge of NYC Public School system
- Bilingual English/Spanish is REQUIRED
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel using public transportation
- Flexibility to work evenings as needed
- Willingness to travel with minors out of state if needed
Pay Rate: $50K
