The purpose of this position is to prepare and serve meals and snacks for Head Start children and staff on a daily basis. Position is responsible for meal duties and ensuring the Head Start Food Program is properly and efficiently carried out. The employee prepares grocery order, submits food inventory to Dietician on the 1st of each month, and verifies order when delivered. Prepares Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) Form 6 after each meal. Receives and maintains adequate inventory of food and supplies. This position must comply with all agency policies and Head Start Performance Standards. Assists Dietician with completion of Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) reimbursement report. Completes all necessary work reports and records on the operations of the kitchen.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age; plus, must have responsible work experience in food handling and preparation. Commercial cooking experience is preferred.NOTE: Any conviction listed in the Louisiana Child Protection Act (Louisiana R.S. 15:587.1) is considered disqualifying, unless written proof of pardon is submitted in time for consideration with the application.

The examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, an oral panel interview or any combination thereof. Acceptable applicants will be notified of the time, date, and place of any assembled testing. Applicants must supply complete and accurate information concerning their training and experience including a detailed description of their work experience, the names and addresses of all previous employers and the dates of employment. The information is subject to verification and the Personnel Department reserves the right to determine the quality and quantity of education and experience claimed for credit.
