EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT WEST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE SERVICES AND FOR FUTURE VACANCIES AS THEY OCCUR.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Under the supervision of the Fire Training Center Administrator, presents training to all volunteer Fire Department personnel in Jefferson Parish, to include fire personnel of municipalities. This employee shall work with and assist contract instructors of the Fire Facility. Assist the Fire Training Center Administrator in monitoring the training conducted by contract instructors and in planning the overall programs and format. Conducts daily classroom or field training sessions for the Volunteer Fire Department at the Fire Training Center, the individual Fire Departments, and other locations. Recommends and provides input on the short and long-term planning of training classes and course content. Visits industrial sites to promote the fire training facility and assesses the needs of our industrial partners. Performs maintenance duties in and around training facility such as but not limited to; cutting grass, weed eating, painting, repairing equipment, and any other duties assigned. Operates and services maintenance vehicles. Instruct classes when needed, act as Safety Officer during Industrial classes conducted by the industry, meeting the objective of Parish contract. This position is an essential, emergency duty status worker and may not be relieved of duty when the Parish President or their designee recommends a voluntary or mandatory evacuation of Jefferson Parish. Position requires driving of a Parish vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record will be given preference.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
(ENTRANCE AND PROMOTIONAL)The examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, an oral panel interview or any combination thereof. Acceptable applicants will be notified of the time, date, and place of any assembled testing. Applicants must supply complete and accurate information concerning their training and experience including a detailed description of their work experience, the names and addresses of all previous employers and the dates of employment.
