Position Summary
The Position will function as an Associate Crane Engineer at the QMC Cranes location in Sparks, NV. The selected candidate will be responsible for performing engineering design tasks for new products as well as product improvements, focusing on manufacturability, product costing, material availability, compliance to applicable codes, and engineering best practices.
Principle Accountabilities
- Assists in or performs technical and/or basic engineering design for QMC products based on pre-established processes to meet ASTM/SAE/AWS standards.
- Operates as project leader on small projects and/or assists with tasks on medium/large projects, which require extensive knowledge of structural and mechanical functionality and design constraints.
- Utilizes knowledge of various manufacturing processes, machines, engineering practices, mathematics, materials and other physical sciences to develop 2D & 3D models, along with associated drawings and specifications for manufacturing.
- Assist QMC Engineering team with execution of the engineering deliverables meeting the applicable technical requirements (including Manufacturability, Certification / Qualification Requirements) against agreed schedule and cost objectives.
- Manages and owns CAD model library, ensures version control and drawings / information accuracy during release to production leads.
- Responds to and investigates customer inquiries, questions and complaints; Identifies, analyzes and resolves technical problems or concerns, seeking senior engineering assistance as needed.
Position Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline along with two or more years’ experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment with emphasis on product design and optimization. If you have worked as a CAD Designer or an Associate Design Engineer, then we want to talk with you. Additional desired skills include:
- Two to four years’ engineering experience in a manufacturing / assembly environment. Absent work experience, college internships are highly desirable.
- Experience with any of the following CAD packages, preferred: AutoDesk Inventor, Creo, SolidWorks, SolidEdge, UG/NX, AutoCad.
- Ability to work independently/self-directed and as a member of a team.
- Technical aptitude to lead projects with multi-disciplinary engineering resources.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, effective oral and written communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong work ethic, integrity, and leadership skills.
- Desire to work on a variety of projects.
- Experience in heavy equipment or mobile equipment manufacturing is highly desirable.
