Maitre d' of The Jericho Terrace

The maitre d' is the person who is responsible for everything and anything that happens during the event. This role is the most essential when managing an event. This role is crucial in executing the best guest experience for all guests in attendance.
The Primary role of the maître d' is managing the Servers, Bartenders, Barbacks, Captains, Runners and Greeters working that day. They are directly under the supervision of the maitre d'. The actions, success and failures of the crew are a direct reflection of the maitre d'.
We have a sister location located in Queens Village. You may be placed there if needed,
Daily Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Act like a leader
- Communication with all other maître d's as to what time they are doing everything and if they will need help.
- Create and manager event timeline with the Guest of Honor
- Go over every single menu item and timeline of all items with guest of honor to ensure accuracy on the BEO
- Execute event with professionalism and perfection
- Make sure all dinner orders for guest are correct and served in professional manner
- Communicate with Captains, Runners, Servers & Bartenders
- Enforcement of rules and write ups
- Write notes for every event: full timeline from when they arrive to when they leave and any issues that may have occurred.
- Read all of the notes in the events folder and make copies of the menu and the floor plan.
- Before the Crew comes, the room must match the floor plan.
- Get the tabletops prepared before the crew comes in, for example
- Make sure that all equipment is in the main ballroom and cocktail hour.
- Check in all crew and check their uniforms
- Make sure your staff is doing their roles.
- Manage Room Turn Overs, Make sure all equipment is ready for the next event. Have all Silverware polished and all Napkins folded before the 1st party is finished.
- Cocktail rooms must be reset at the end of the shift.
- After each event, as a manager, you must inspect the entire building to make sure it is clean.
- Make sure all bars are cleaned
- Lock up building securely
Banquet Maitre d' Required Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (phone, email, face-to-face)
- Minimum 2 years experience
- Demonstrated history of initiative
- Ability to be flexible with work schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Detail-oriented, organized, a high sense of urgency, and track record of managing multiple events/priorities to desired results.
- Demonstrated strong guest service skills
Banquet Maitre d' Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated problem solving skills
- 3 years experience
- Hospitality background
- Sales Force experience
