The Concrete Foreman will supervise and assist with the installation of site concrete. This employee will plan, assign, schedule, and supervise the concrete crew, laborers, truck drivers, and equipment operators engaged in the construction, reconstruction, and maintenance of projects. This is a skilled supervisory position in the concrete construction industry, specializing in tear out/replace of residential and commercial areas. The job includes construction or repair of streets, driveways, sidewalks, entrances/aprons, parking lots, slabs, patch/repair of all concrete areas, reconstruction of rough/final grading in some areas and remedy of drainage issues.
Essential Functions:
- Ability to interpret and work from instructions, penciled plans/sketches and blue prints.
- Ability to provide scope of work with accurate pricing.
- Lay-out, direct and supervise construction job site.
- Efficiently carry out instructions and communicate with superiors, subordinates, regional and property managers, vendors and office staff.
- Assures that assigned areas of responsibility are performed within budget; assures effective and efficient use of personnel, materials, equipment, facilities and time.
- Evaluates the stability and functionality of cement installations such as sidewalks, porches and driveways.
- Determines, calculates, and secures the appropriate materials and supplies for a specific project.
- Understand, manage and prevent occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work.
- Manages and supervises a work crew; plans and organizes workloads and staff assignments; trains, motivates and evaluates assigned staff; reviews progress and directs changes as needed.
- Supervises teams to ensure leveling and texturizing concrete surfaces. Checks the concrete forms for appropriate depths and angles before the cement is poured. Removes surface imperfections before the concrete has fully hardened.
- Communicates with other contractors to coordinate job stages.
- Ensures work is completed according to all City standards, blueprints and Company guidelines.
- Responsible for the upkeep and operation of assigned equipment including backhoes, dump trucks, pickups, tampers, generators and torch sets in accordance with company safety policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
- Knowledge of practices, methods, equipment, materials and tools used in concrete site construction and maintenance required
- A minimum of three years of proven experience working with concrete mixing compounds, sealants and finishes
- CDL license required
- Prior experience in leading a concrete team preferred
- Experience with heavy equipment operation required
- Proven operation of hand and power tools to ensure proper placement of concrete
- Knowledge of surface designs that prevent slippage and water collection
- Basic math skills to accurately calculate dimensions of forms and molds
- Basic computer skills preferred (Microsoft Word and Excel)
