What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chief Inspector position at Jet East?

  • The Chief Inspector is responsible for the day-to-day procedures of the Repair Station & Quality Control Manual being followed, including planning and scheduling of related work, coordination and liaison with customers and vendors as required, inspection of aircraft, components, and equipment in accordance with the approved inspection programs and manuals.

    The Chief Inspector reports to the Vice President of Quality Assurance and is the direct supervisor of Quality Control and Inspection Staff.

    This position requires periodic travel to our NetJets Service Hub Operations in LAS, MDW, and VNY. The Chief Inspector will need to be based at one of the three locations.

    Responsibilities and Duties: The Chief Inspector is responsible to:


    • Confirm repair station maintenance personnel qualifications. Monitor and oversee documents/authorizations listed in the Employee’s Training Record file.
    • Maintain a current file of pertinent technical data, including CFRs, specifications, manufacturer’s maintenance manuals, Service Bulletins (SB), Airworthiness Directives (AD), and other data acceptable to or approved by the FAA.
    • Maintain a current record of the calibration status of Precision Tools and Test Equipment.
    • Ensure the proper execution of FAA Form 337, Major Repair and Alteration (Airframe, Powerplant, Propeller, or Appliance), when required.
    • Supervise technicians in performing their assigned inspection tasks and inspection functions of the Gama Aviation Engineering Inc. Repair Station & Quality Control Manual.
    • Perform those functions identified throughout the Repair Station & Quality Control Manual.
    • Ensure that any work in process or incomplete task is properly documented to enable a detailed turnover to the technician assigned to complete that task.
    • Supervise and direct the Technicians to enforce compliance with the policies and procedures outlined in the Gama Aviation Engineering Inc. Repair Station & Quality Control Manual.
    • Responsible to ensure all training records and authorizations are created and approved in accordance with the RSQCM requirements. Review and direct the Technicians work documents to enforce compliance with the policies and procedures outlined in the Gama Aviation Engineering Inc. Repair Station & Quality Control Manual.
    • Monitor and direct staff to ensure that safety equipment is utilized and that all personnel follow the established procedures in use of required protective equipment.
    • Recommend revision or corrections to the Gama Aviation Engineering Inc. Repair Station & Quality Control Manual.
    • Monitor compliance with the overall safety program to provide a safe and secure workplace, to ensure compliance with established OSHA and industry standards.
    • Complete malfunction and defect reports as needed. “FAA form 8010-4”

    Ensure procurement, distribution, and revision service of technical literature.

    • Review and audit the completed Work Order forms and all associated paperwork for proper entries of work performed, parts replaced, and final inspection documented. Audit the Airworthiness Release and logbook entry at the completion of each Work Order.
    • Advise of any personnel, facilities, tools, equipment, and materials required to accomplish the work authorized under the FAA Approved Operations Specifications in compliance with Gama Aviation Engineering Inc. quality standards.
    • Ensure the Required Inspection Items are identified, inspected, and corrected as identified in Chapter 5, Section 1, Paragraph 8 for required work orders.


    Skills and Qualifications:
    The Chief Inspector must:


    • Hold an A&P certificate, with 10 years’ experience.
    • Know the policies and procedures outlined in the Gama Aviation Engineering Inc. Repair Station & Quality Control Manual, EASA Supplements and Bermuda AMO OTAR requirements as applicable for certificates received.
    • Be thoroughly familiar with appropriate sections of the Federal Aviation Regulations.
    • Know the Ratings that the repair station is authorized to perform, as listed in the Gama Aviation Engineering Inc. Operations Specifications.
    • Understand, read and write English.


    NOTE
    – The Chief Inspector may delegate duties to qualified personnel as deemed appropriate; however, that does not relieve the Chief inspector of the overall responsibilities as listed above.


    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to be willing to work on elevated platforms (up to 40 feet in the air) using fall protection safety gear
    • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time while performing repairs
    • Ability to lift 70lbs or more
    • Ability to operate basic hand tools and ground equipment
    • Ability to work in confined spaces

    Non-Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to learn and use technical manuals
    • Good mechanical aptitude and ability to solve problems effectively
    • Be a problem solver by effectively reading and interpreting maintenance, wiring and illustrated parts manuals
    • Ability to communicate in writing and verbally in a clear and understandable manner with co-workers, customers and Jet East Leadership
    • Must be able to perform repairs effectively and quickly in short notice, high-pressure situations
    • Must be able to input and retrieve information from computers
    • Experience with Apple and Microsoft products especially Outlook, Word, and Excel spreadsheets
    • Able to travel to locations, in all weather conditions, to perform repairs
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
